Hi I'm Annette

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived a pretty full life even though I'm still relatively young. I have two teenage boys and I work full-time as a teacher. It's a busy life but I'm really enjoying it. I have been widowed for almost 15 years now and that experience that has helped me grow spiritually and develop a caring, sensitive heart. I've always been active but this year I have decided to try my first triathlon. I love the outdoors and being somewhat adventurous - I do have my limits though. What keeps me going is an eternal perspective and the knowledge that this life is not the end.

Why I am a Mormon

A friend recently asked me, "Do you feel its time for a change in your faith? Are you happy?" I answered and told her I'm happy BECAUSE of my faith. People think I'm a member because I grew up in the church. Whenever anyone asks, "Who is a convert?" I raise my hand. I was truly converted at the age of 16. I had just finished reading the book of Mormon for the first time and decided to pray if it was true. I knelt down upon my knees and offered a sincere prayer to my Father in Heaven. I asked Him if the things I had read were true. A warm feeling filtered through my body, from my head to my feet, as though someone was wrapping me in a warm blanket from the inside out. My heart pounded in my chest and I knew at that moment that it was true. Although it's been so many years since that experience, I can still remember those feelings.  I don't need to see the gold plates to know any firmer that the Book of Mormon is true.

How I live my faith

I have served in many callings that have taught me a great deal about loving those you serve. I feel that my service in the church has really helped my vocational skills. I feel blessed with the gift to teach and know that this was given to be to bless the lives of those I come in contact with. I currently serve as the Assistant Ward Librarian and as an Assistant Stake Camp Director. Recently I was able to express my love to a young woman that was struggling and I really felt the love the Saviour has for her. As I teach at school, I look on those children as children of my Heavenly Father and gain a real love for them. When I serve my fellowmen, I am expressing my love to my Father in Heaven.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The "Mormon Church" is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As the name suggests, this is the Church of Jesus Christ in the latter days. The "latter-day" distinguishes Christ's church in his day from His current church today. He is the founder. Joseph Smith was His instrument in restoring it to the earth in this dispensation of time. Just as a flute cannot be played without a musician, Joseph Smith could not have established the church or restored His gospel without the Saviour. Show more Show less
