Hi I'm Ed

I grew up in a little town call Yazoo City, in Mississippi. intered the military right out of high school. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'am a dad, father and husband. I love being involved in church activities. As a kid I never had too much to do with church stuff, but now that I know the truth about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I want to be during my Heavenly Fathers business always. I would love to tell to how I became a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Because when we met the missionaries I was serving my country in the army as a soldier. I was station in Washington, DC. working at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. We lived in a city call Wheaton, Md. One evening two young men knocked on our door, they were dress in white shirts and dark suits, with a name tag that read Missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Now we had never heard of the this church, but we were looking for a church. Seeing that we were black, we figured they would not be interested in teaching us about their church. So we told them to come back on another day and I don't remember what day to be exact, but They did return. I think the first lesson was about Jesus Christ and if we believed he had a body of flesh and bone, now this made me want to hear more. Each time they they came we felt the spirit, it made us feel good and excited about hearing more. The lesson about the young boy, Joseph Smith and how he prayed and how the Lord answered his prayer was the turning point for me. Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus CHrist appeared to him and his testimony was he saw them and they spoke to him and they had bodies of flesh and bones just as we do. All Joseph wanted to know was which church to join, and he was told not to join any of them, for they were all wrong. One other lesson that gave us excitement was when they talked about the Word of Wisdom. How the body is a temple of God and should be kept clean and pure. Now on this day we had just returned from the grocery store and we drank wine, beer, coffee and tea; and we had purchased a little bit of all of these items. After the lesson was over I remember my wife and looked at each other and decided right then, that this was the True Gospel of Jesus Christ, so we knew what we had to do, we went to the kitchen and through out everything that was not good for the Temple of God. Brothers and sisters after thirty years our Temples are still clean. Amen!

How I live my faith

At this time I am the leader of a group of brothers who I have to assign as home teachers and each month do personal interviews with them. Organize activities and plan the lessons to be taught each sunday. Make arrangement for temple attendance each month. I also, have to plan to do my own home teaching each month. Home Teaching is where each family in the group are assigned home teachers, two brothers to visit a number of families in the group and to teach a lesson each month in their home, become a friend to the family and to help the family in any way needed. I sing in the choir and any other assignment given, I will do the best that can to complete it. I love doing my Heavenly Father's business.
