Hi I'm Bekah

I'm Mormon and I love it!

About Me

I recently graduated with my Bachelor's Degree and have been accepted to an MFA Creative Writing Program in New York. Right now, while I wait to attend graduate school in the fall, I work full-time as a front desk receptionist at a counseling center for youth. I love to climb trees, tell ghost stories, laugh with my family, and blog about life's quirks.

Why I am a Mormon

The Gospel gives me a level of happiness I can't find anywhere else. Even when I experience disappointment, my fears have never overshadowed the contentment I feel when I strive to follow the example of my Savior. My membership in this Church has given me such a powerful understanding of my personal worth that it transcends any material satisfaction. As a Mormon I have purpose and potential because I understand the divine relationship I have with Christ and my Heavenly Father. My faith is the most treasured truth I have in my life, and everything else is that much better because of it.

How I live my faith

I am influenced by my faith every day. The way I treat others, the way I understand myself--everything is shaped by the testimony I have of the restored Gospel and my relationship with the Savior. I love attending church every Sunday, feeling the Spirit, reading the scriptures. It is such a comfort to know that when I feel hurt or misunderstood I can pray to a loving Heavenly Father and He will listen. I can't imagine my life without prayer. Once you've found your faith it becomes a part of your character and effects every other aspect of your life.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost has the capacity to deepen our joy and prolong our happiness. All good things--literature, healthy companionships, beautiful wintery landscapes--invite the Spirit and serve as reminders of our Heavenly Father's love for His children. When we are doing what is right we have the privilege to feel the warmth and peace the Spirit brings to our hearts and minds. The Spirit also serves as a guide and can inspire us to avoid things that may harm us. These warnings come as unexplained thoughts or impressions to our hearts which help us stop destructive habits and unhealthy choices. The Holy Ghost is truly a gift. Our Heavenly Father understands the loneliness and discouragement we may feel as we strive to find happiness in our lives, which is why He has provided a way for us to personally feel His love, direction and encouragement every day through the Spirit.     Show more Show less
