Hi I'm Kole

I am married with one child. I enjoy playing jazz music and reading. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just started my first year of graduate school in biomedical engineering. I have been married three years and have one child, born earlier this year. I enjoy running and have run 3 marathons in my life. I play the trumpet, especially in big bands, although I am not currently playing with one. I love spending time with my family, going on vacations to Disney and just simply playing games. I also read fantasy novels when I get a chance.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active Mormon family and my parents did their best to teach me how to follow Jesus Christ. As a child, I simply believed what they taught. As a teenager, however, I found that being a Mormon at times can be somewhat inconvenient and I needed to know if what I was doing and what I believed in was true. During this time of reflection, I reread the Book of Mormon, studied the teachings of the prophets and prayed. I felt good about living the Gospel and found that I had already had many experiences in life where the Holy Ghost had touched my heart and confirmed that I was on the right path. I recall a specific instance when I was challenged by my leaders to read the Book of Mormon in a very short period of time and mark all passages that referred to the Savior. I did so, and upon finishing I knelt and prayed to have the Holy Ghost confirm to me that the Book of Mormon was true, and I felt an overwhelming sense of peace and love. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, that God has called a prophet today to help us through these troubled times and to help prepare us for what lies ahead. Following the Savior, although it may seem inconvenient at times, will always bring us happiness and blessings. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

As a member of the church, I have the responsibility to help watch over the other members. I have been assigned three other families whom I visit regularly with another member so that we can help teach them the Gospel, give inspirational messages, and identify and attend to any specific needs they may have. I have also been called as a secretary to help mark attendance, schedule appointments, and do anything else to help the leaders know what to do to help those who are in need. I do this in addition to my other duties, such as being a husband, father, student, employee and neighbor. I especially strive hard to keep the commandments of God, to try to become more like my Savior, and to encourage those around me to do the same.
