Hi I'm Chase
I'm a Mormon living on the East Coast.
About Me
After having grown up in Salt Lake City, Utah, I moved with my wife to the East Coast to attend dental school. My wife is currently working as an elementary school teacher. I grew up in the beautiful state of Utah. I spent much of my free time playing sports, hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing, boating, and camping. After graduating from high school, I moved away to college where I completed one year before leaving for two years as a Mormon missionary. I spent two years in Eastern Texas and Western Louisiana as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was able to assist with the humanitarian efforts that followed Hurricanes Katrina and Rita while also sharing my beliefs with others and educating them about the Church. Upon returning from my mission, I completed my undergraduate education while working and met my beautiful wife. We share many of the same interests and love life in New England.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it is true. No matter where in the world you are, what the political climate may be, or how different the culture is with that of your own, the church is the same. The doctrines don't change with time or popular belief. The church is an anchor in a world of changing values, ideas, and opinions. I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's church.
How I live my faith
If you've ever visited a regular Sunday service at a Mormon church, you'll quickly realize that it's not a place where most people come to be entertained or listen to polished speeches. Rather, it is a place where each member plays an important role in carrying out the work of the church and is strengthened in the process. It is a place where people develop Christlike attributes. It is a church of action, responsibility, and duty. Like most Mormons, I have responsibilities often referred to as "callings" that I voluntarily fulfill on a regular basis. I'm currently responsible for the young men (ages 12-18) within our congregation. Aside from the service I render within the Church, I do things each day that distinguish me as a Mormon. I try to pray each morning and night. I spend at least fifteen minutes each day reading from the Bible or The Book of Mormon. This small amount of time each day helps me remember what is most important in life, how blessed I am, and what it is that I should focus on throughout my day. I work to eliminate bad habits from my life, strengthen my intellectual capacity and understanding of the world around me, and assist others in need. I love my family and try to spend as much time with them as possible. My wife and I often read from the scriptures together, discuss the purpose and importance of life, and pray together each night before going to bed. Another important aspect of life as a Mormon is the sharing of our faith and beliefs with others. We believe that Jesus' charge to His disciples is equally applicable to us today: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." (Matthew 28:19) Everyone should have the opportunity to learn about the purpose of life and what it is that will provide us with lasting joy and happiness.
