Hi I'm Walter Portillo

I am from Colombia. I am Mormon

About Me

I am Walter Portillo, i am from Colombia. Actually, i reside in Provo, UT going to School and getting a better education. I love The Lord, my family, this gospel and the opportunity to be better. As many colombians i love dancing, singing, playing soccer and talking to my friends. This just a good time to be alive

Why I am a Mormon

Why not? This is by far the best decision i have made in my whole entire life. Everything i do is linked to the fact that i join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latte-day Saints. My character, my knowledge, my attributes and talents have changed and will keep changing because of the enabling power that Christ's restored gospel on the earth brings to people. This is the Kingdom of God on the earth, with all the powers and authorities restored to man so that we can live again as families sealed for all eternity.

How I live my faith

I was baptized in Barranquilla, Colombia. I have had several opportunities to serve since i was young. I was called to be a deacon leader and priest quorum president when i was 16. Also, i was called to be a clerk for my ward when i was 18 that was one of the most challenging and funnest times i have had prior to my mission. I was busy and many things in the ward depended on me. I love the scriptures and since i was young i have always read them and studied them, i love mark them and put insights in the edges about principles i learn. One more thing that identifies how i live my faith is temple attendance. I live in a town where the nearest temple is in Bogota, the capital, about 500 kmt away on bus. My family loves going to the temple so we always tried to go to the temple as often as possible. I even sold candy for about 6 months so i can have the money to go to the temple. I remember the joy it feels to go to the temple on your own effort. I live a very happy and enthusiastic live because Christ loves me and My Heavenly Father cares and watches over me daily.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Walter Portillo
Oh yes. If we think about just looking at patterns, we can know that's true. We know that God loves us. He did before, he does it know and he will continue to do it. If he sent prophets in ancient days because he loved His children, then he would still send them now. He loves us just like a father loves his child that would do anything to help him out to be safe and protected. Over and over God never gave up on us his children. He sent prophets over and over. What the bible is taking in into this perspective is a set of sacred records of the things God told his servants the prophets to tell his children, to guide his children. Amos 3: 7 says better, paraphrasing he is saying that He would so nothing unless he calls a prophet to tell us what his will is. Now, If he had done in the past He would do it now, He doesn't change, he still loves us the same way he loved his children in the past. Then he will continue to call prophets. On the other hand, i know there is a prophet because besides the things i have learned from the scriptures. I have prayed to God and he has answer that there is a prophet now, living, speaking what he wants us to do. A living testimony that heavens are not close, that we are God's most precious possession, and most loved ones...His Children. He speaks now through a prophet even President Thomas S.
