Hi I'm Jason Call

I love laughing and making people laugh. I love movies and science and travel and fast cars. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband and father of 3. I love travel, movies, laughing really hard, and spending time with my family. I am a writer and creative director at a large advertising agency.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm not a Mormon because I have perfect faith, because I don't. I'm not a Mormon because I always find it easy to believe, because I don't. I'm not a Mormon because it's always easy. I'm a Mormon because when I live the principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I'm a better husband. I'm a better father. I'm a better son and brother. I'm a better employee. And I'm happier and more filled with tremendous peace than when I don't live it. I sometimes struggle with my faith and there are things I find hard to believe or accept, but despite that, living this gospel ALWAYS brings me peace and happiness. And when I don't practice the principles of the gospel and fully as I'd like, that peace and happiness fades. Faith comes effortlessly to some, but for me it's a conscious choice. I choose to believe in Mormonism because it makes me and my family happy and filled with peace. I love more, give more, and laugh harder because of my faith. And anything that gives me all that is worth taking a leap of faith for.

How I live my faith

I currently teach the gospel doctrine class (sunday school for the adults) in my congregation and this year we're studying The Old Testament. It has forced me to study and learn the Old Testament like I never have before and I have enjoyed the challenge and growth it has provided me. Before this calling I was the employment specialist of the congregation, assisting those who were looking for employment. One of the things I love about my church is that we have an all-volunteer ministry. We teach, lead, and serve each other. This not only unifies and helps us get to know the other members of our congregation, but as we serve as bishops, teachers, nursery workers, or giving a 30-minute talk in front of the congregation, we have the opportunity to grow in ways that we otherwise couldn't. It's not just about what you learn in the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, but what you become. Mormonism celebrates and embraces truth in all it's forms, and from all sources, so long as they are true. This allows me to embrace scientific discovery and advancement and I feel no need to choose science or religion--in my view, Mormonism and science live harmoniously together. I can believe, as science as clearly demonstrated that Evolution happened, but still believe in a God who created the heaven and the Earth in whatever manner he saw fit, and using methods I may not fully understand yet. I love that my beliefs don't need to feel threatened by the truth that science reveals.
