Hi I'm M. Herring

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father, and a dentist. I enjoy photography, reading, biking, running, hiking, swimming, watching movies, working in my yard, and just spending time with my family. I also enjoy learning anything I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are true. It is as simple as knowing that a fire will burn you so you do not touch it. I know this church to be true, so I have to be a part of that truth. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Since I know that, I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Since he was a prophet, the church he restored with the power of God is true. I know this from personal revelation, not from anyone forcing me to believe it. One of my favorite aspects of the Gospel is that the Lord will give everyone their own answer. He does not require anyone to rely on the faith of others. If you want to know, all you have to do is ask. I know that He will answer you just as He has answered me.

How I live my faith

For me, living my faith is a daily thing. I know that I am not perfect so a daily reminder is the greatest strength I have. I read the scriptures every day alone and with my family. Even though my boys are very young, they can handle listening to a few verses every night before they go to bed. We then kneel down to pray to our loving Father in Heaven to thank Him for all He has done for us throughout the day

What is being a Mormon like?

M. Herring
Being a Mormon is like being any other person. You are still human, you are still everything you would be if you were not a Mormon. The only difference is that as a Mormon you know about the plan of happiness that our Father in Heaven has for us. You know that by living according to that plan, you can have happiness in this life and in the life to come. Being a Mormon does not make you better or worse than any other person. We are all children of God. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

M. Herring
As a previous missionary in Japan, this answer is one of the easiest for me to answer. Missionaries will talk to you about happiness, the happiness that comes from knowing Jesus Christ and all that He has done for us. God, our Father in Heaven, has a plan for us that is aptly named the plan of happiness. Show more Show less
