Hi I'm Mark

I love life and look forward to the future!

About Me

My wife, Angie, and I have been married for 24+ years and we have 5 wonderful children and one perfect little granddaughter. After graduating from BYU in accounting I joined our family business and currently own and operate wholesale auto auctions with my two partners/brothers. I love to spend time with my family traveling, spending time outdoors, or just hanging out at home.

Why I am a Mormon

My family and I have tried to center our lives on the teachings of Jesus Christ. For me nothing is a greater witness of Christ than the Book of Mormon. I read this great book every day and as I do I am consistently reminded that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior. I know I am a child of a Heavenly Father who loves me and wants me to be with Him again. He has a plan for all of us and this plan is centered around following His Son. As a mormon I am confident that my Father in Heaven will lead and direct me in my personal life and also leads His church through a living prophet. This knowledge brings great peace to my life.

How I live my faith

Our family strives to maintain a home centered on the teachings of Jesus Christ. We love to pray together and read from scriptural texts which remind us that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us. Our faith helps us to know that the future is bright and we know that we will be eternally happy as we anchor our hope in the Savior. I feel it is important to not just live your faith when you attend church meetings, but to follow Jesus Christ is in your everyday life.

What is faith?

I think that most would say that faith is to believe. I have come to understand that believing is only a portion of faith. After one believes, or trusts, the next step is to act on that principle. We act on faith through obedience to God's commandments. As you have faith or trust in Jesus Christ the natural reaction would be to follow His teachings. This in turn will strengthen your faith and give you a greater desire to be obedient to His teachings. I have found that my faith grows as I do the things that Jesus Christ would have me do. Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a record written by ancient prophets. The first prophet was a man named Lehi who was directed by God to leave Jerusalem and take his family on a journey through the wilderness and ultimately to the new world - or America as we know it today. Generations followed and God continued to lead his people for hundreds of years even while Jesus Christ was born, lived, was crucified and resurrected. One of my favorite parts of the Book of Mormon is when Christ, after his resurrection, appeared to the inhabitants of the American continent. He taught them and demonstrated the same love He showed to those in the old world. This record was engraved on metal plates and given to Joseph Smith in the early 1800's. Through the power of God he was able to translate this record from a reformed Egyptian language to English. The message of the Book of Mormon is that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. That in and through Him all mankind can be saved and receive eternal life. At the conclusion of the Introduction to the book it states, "We invite all men everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost. (See Moroni 10: 3-5.) Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah." I challenge you to read this sacred record and ask God the Eternal Father, in the name of Jesus Christ if this book is true. I promise that if you ask in faith, with a sincere heart, intending to follow His commandments he will bless you with the knowledge of this truth. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

The charge to teach others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ comes from the Bible. In Matthew 28:16-20 Jesus said, "Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." This same charge applies to disciples, or followers of Jesus Christ today. His is a message of peace and salvation. He desires all to receive the fullness of His gospel. While some might say that mormons are trying to convert others, I would say that we are just trying to demonstrate what we have so that we might add to what you already know and have. Give the missionaries a chance. Listen to their message and then make an honest decision after asking God yourself through prayer. He is there and will listen and answer the sincere of heart.
