Hi I'm Mark Stanley

I am a father of five. I am a family therapist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to my high school sweetheart. We have five children. Our eldest son has graduated from college and is working his first job. Our daughter and next son are attending college and living in Idaho. It is strange to have only two children now at home. I am a marriage and family therapist by trade. My hobbies include kayaking, running, and adventure racing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because the Holy Ghost has testified to me that God lives, Jesus is the Christ, and that through him I can be forgiven and healed of every earthly struggle. I have felt through the Holy Ghost that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God -- That he saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I have had my prayers answered and have felt Gods power in my life.

How I live my faith

For the past five years I have been serving my congregation as the Bishop. This opportunity has given me a chance to lead all of the weekly meetings to run our local congregation. I oversee the finances of the congregation. Two other men, who also serve without compensation, assist me with the many aspects of this work. I spend between 20-25 hours per week taking care of these responsiblities. One of my favorite aspects is working closely with the teenagers. Teaching young people and answering their difficult questions is such a joy.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Mark Stanley
Professionally I work with many people who are impacted by pornography. It is so important that families talk together about this horrendous plague. I would encourage parents to monitor closely what their children do on the internet. I recently spoke with a father who was so confident that no one in his family had this struggle. Yet, he discovered that one of his sons had this problem. He has now placed his computers in common areas of his home rather than bedrooms or private places. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Mark Stanley
The Church does not endorse political parties. But they do strongly encourage me to vote and to get involved in the political process. Show more Show less
