Hi I'm Sharon

I'm a Mormon and love it!

About Me

I'm a 30something divorcee living in a small town in Oregon. I have worked in the non-profit world all my adult life and wouldn't trade it for the world. Right now I help young people become job ready and complete their education. I cannot help wanting to help people! I have 5 siblings, a sister and 4 brothers. I have a roommate and a dog. And did I mention, I love being a Mormon!!??!!

Why I am a Mormon

I belong to the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints because it brings me real joy. I know who I am, where I am going when this short thing we call life is over and I know who I'll be spending it with. The Church provides us additional opportunities to give service, teach, share, live, learn and love one another. It doesn't matter that my mom and dad taught me to believe in this religion. I was like most - a rebellious teenager and I began to wonder and wander. I decided to study and pray and believe me, I began with the basics like "Did a guy named Jesus Christ really walk on the earth and wear those funny sandals you always see in the pictures?" Not that the sandal part is important, I just wondered if he really walked on the earth, what would be covering his feet. I had a very personal spiritual experience while praying for an answer. I cannot deny the love and mission of the Savior Jesus Christ. I hope that you will find peace through the Savior's gift too.

How I live my faith

Sometimes I feel more like a taker than a giver but I think it all equals out in the end. I have taught little children Valiant 9s ROCK, I have been the leader of the children's Primary organization, I have taught the youth Sunday School class many times and that is what I do currently. But more than how I serve in the church, I feel it is splendid to live my life as the Savior would have us to. I like to give money to church and charity, I like to state truth when I see it, I like to encourage and demonstrate morality, strong personal ethics both at work and at play. I try and fail often enough it sometimes hurts to live my life the way I know that if the Savior came again today, He would welcome me home.

What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

I have asked my dear friends of other faiths this question over the years. They usually avoid it like the plaque or direct me to a brochure that lists the views of world religions explanations in generic terms. Maybe they will read this and know why and how I believe what happens when we die. Because our Heavenly Father loves us, he placed us on earth in families. He proposed a plan where we would be tested and proven and then return to His presence. It would require a Savior. When we die, we will be reunited with our families, according to our diligence and covenants that we've made with Him. According to the scriptures found in 1 Corinthians 1541-42, we know that there are different levels of glory in the resurrection. Additional revelations has been given to clarify and can be found in the Doctrine and Covenants. Through study of the scriptures, I know that each person on earth will inherit some glory and that those who strive to live a purposeful life and make covenenants with our Father in Heaven will inherit ALLthat He hath. That is His promise to us.   Show more Show less
