Hi I'm Jamie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a single girl in her early thirities. I majored in history in college. I'm a teacher at a charter high school - I love it! Besides history - I love reading, playing the piano (although I don't do that too much these days), watching old movies, dancing (salsa, especially), and hanging out with family (especially my niece) and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

To me it makes sense. I have had prayers answered in ways that confirm to me that there is a God and that He loves us. There is a prophet today, just like there were prophets anciently, and that means a lot to me, too. There are many things that go on in the world that are tragic and hard, and knowing that I can look to the prophet and apostles for direction and stability is very comforting. I'm a Mormon because I feel the Holy Spirit witnessing to me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and what it teaches is true. I can't deny how I feel about it, and I don't want to. I feel that Jesus Christ is at the head of the church, and I want to follow Him and hope to become more like Him each day, and being active in my faith really helps with that.

How I live my faith

My assignment right now is as a counselor for the presidency that's over the 12-18 year old girls in my region, which means that I get to help with some of the youth activities that go on throughout the year. I love getting to be around the teens and seeing some of their amazing talents.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

The two great commandments that the Savior speaks about in Matthew 22 are important to me. He simply tells us to love God and to love our neighbor. If we can do those two things, we'll be keeping the 10 Commandments, as well as all of the other ones. When I have struggled with being Christlike (well, I always do, but when I have thought about how I'm struggling with it), I sometimes have thought about how it all comes down to those two simple commandments. I just need to love God - fully - and I need to love everyone around me. Then everything else will be taken care of. Show more Show less
