Hi I'm John

I'm an Electrical Engineer. I grew up in Philadephia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a convert to the church and was baptized in Sept. 2008. I'm an electrical engineer and for 20 years I have been working in the consumer electronics industry. I love playing guitar and singing when I get the chance. My work keeps me pretty busy and traveling but I still try to get a round of golf in once and a while. I'm a father of three and the oldest has already blessed us with two grand children. My wife and I met while I was working in Mexico on a 3 year assignment.

Why I am a Mormon

Before I converted, I found many ways to avoid any sort of religion. I did things that are contrary to any religion. In fact my life hit some pretty low points before I found the church. I'm not sure why my wife put up with me for so long. It is because of her faith and the prayer my 9 year old son gave me when I hit rock bottom that softened my heart enough to hear the gospel. I read the Book of Mormon and at that moment felt it to be true. I now have a testimony or Joseph Smith and the gospel. I have never looked back.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to serve others. Service to others is a very important part of the gospel. Each of us are giving specific callings in the church to allow us to serve others. In one of my previous callings I was a ward employment specialist and was able to serve others by helping them with resumes, interviewing skills, or helping them look for a job. In my current calling as a Primary Chorister, I get to teach children gospel topics through song. People tell me it's my perfect calling because of how much I love to sing and play guitar. It's fun to be in the class with the children and it warms my heart when then they learn the words to a song and can sing it from memory. I know that this foundation that I am helping them build will be with them well into adulthood. I also sing in our ward and stake choirs. Music brings the spirit into our lives and it is a joy for me to be able to contribute this way. Now that my son has reached 14 years old, I can now take him as my home teaching companion where we home teach families each month. We mainly go to their home and share a gospel message with them, but we also help them with any needs that they may have such as helping them with any chores they may need like fixing a fence or clearing out weeds from their yard.
