Hi I'm Emi

I'm just as weird and just as normal as most of you. I'm genuinely, supremely happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Let me share with you the really interesting parts of my life... I have a great marriage. Deeply good and loads of fun. I have children and love the fact that they're boys. It works out nicely because I happen to love soccer, football, and ice fishing. I'm a realist who is married to a philosopher. It makes for very interesting conversations. I've been divorced once and hate to admit it, but don't regret it. I love my life and I love God.

Why I am a Mormon

The simple answer is because I choose to be happy. I was raised a Mormon and so you might think I didn't have a choice or didn't know anything different. But everyone, at one point or another, has the choice to continue living the way they were taught or to go a different way. I have been to that point, more than once, and have had to find the truth for myself. I can tell you that I know, for myself, that God lives and Jesus is the Christ. I know that when I follow Jesus I am happy and when I don't I am miserable. I pretty much like being happy as much as possible, so I choose to follow my Savior.

How I live my faith

Right now I help out at church by playing the organ on Sundays and also by organizing monthly get-togethers for other church members and neighbors in the area. It's not much but it's what I've been asked to do and I love it. Music has always been a big part of my life and I love being able to play. Sometimes it speaks to my soul in a way that nothing else does. I also love having fun with others from my church. It really brings us together - more like a family than acquaintances. And since we're all God's children, shouldn't we really be more like a family?

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

I do. I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. He is our Savior and Redeemer. He came down to Earth to save us all. He loves us and wants us to be happy. I believe that Jesus Christ did all that he said he did. I also believe that the only way I am ever going to be truly, eternally happy is by following Him. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

I suppose it depends on what you mean by equality. Do I believe that men and women are equally loved by God and have all the same opportunities for joy? Yes, I absolutely do. I also believe that men and women are different and have different strengths and purposes. Which is why I believe that marriage is central to God's plan for us. A marriage between a man and a woman combines those complimentary differences and creates a unit that can be perfect. I love it that I have a companion in life who is strong where I am weak. And who recognizes that I am strong at times where he is weak. I love it that we both contribute differently to our children's lives and they benefit more because of our differences. We joke sometimes that a father's job is to teach a child to conquer the world, and the mother's job is to keep them alive long enough to do it. If my husband and I were completely equal in all things, where would the richness and fullness of my life come from? It would feel so flat. I love it that I need him and that he needs me.
