Hi I'm JoAnne

I have hung up the stethescope to teach my children about life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife to the man of my dreams ( a Physician Assistant and bike enthusiast), I am a mother to four wonderful, and busy children, two girls and two boys. I am a retired registered nurse, hanging up the stethescope for now, and busy learning and teaching our children about life. I love to ride bikes, water ski, snow ski, swim, hike in the mountains, cook new recipes, try new foods, and watch good movies. Music is a wonderful part of my life that lifts my spirits, calms me down, makes me happy, and brings back good memories. I have dreams to learn to take incredible pictures, play the guitar, sew fun quilts for my children, and be in really great shape.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. The experiences and lessons I learned growing up helped me to follow a certain path. As I approached young adulthood, I really discovered what being a member of the LDS church meant to me. The Church was the way for me to stay on this path, toward the happiest life I could have. It would not be a perfect life, and I knew I would make mistakes along the way, but through Christ, I could live with my husband and my family for eternity. Not just until death. The Church also completely guides me through my daily struggles, and keeps my mind and spirit clear. Clear from addiction, clear from filthy movies, books, and other behaviors that would negatively affect me. Not only does it keep me away from these things, but it lifts me up. With the effort I put into reading my scriptures, watching encouraging talks and videos, praying, and showing obedience to the commandments I am strengthened. This helps me in my roles I have in my life as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher.

How I live my faith

I serve in our church by teaching the eight year old girls. Right now we are studying the Old Testament. The girls love the story of Joseph being sold into Egypt, and then meeting his brothers again. I often use the lessons that I teach my class to teach my children at home. Hopefully all the Old Testament stories will be a review when they are in this class. A few ways my faith is part of my day: praying with my husband and children, reading the scriptures to find examples and insight of following Christ, teaching my children about being Christ-like, modesty, good language, good character, and loving one another.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

The example of Jesus Christ. As people learn of the joy that comes from serving others, and the joy that comes from being obedient to God's commandments, as Jesus did, they desire that joy. They might see the light of Christ that shines within someone that is following Jesus' example and have a feeling to learn more about Christ's church. Show more Show less
