Hi I'm Matt Cawley

I'm white and I speak spanish, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student going into engineering. I served as a missionary in Houston Texas speaking Spanish. At the moment I live at home and work at a book store.

Why I am a Mormon

Although both of my parents are Mormon, I made the decision to stay in the church. All of the teachings of the church really have taken root in my soul. After reading The Book of Mormon for the first time I wanted to find out for myself whether it really was everything that it is said to be. Through personal prayer i was able to know that not only was The Book of Mormon true but that God our Heavenly Father loves me, that he hears and answers my prayers, and he knows me personally. As you grow up and leave home it would be so easy to fall away from the faith that your fathers have given you, But now that I have had this witness for myself I will not turn my back on these and other truths.

How I live my faith

I go to church every week. It is important to me to get away from all the noise and commotion of my every-day life. I try my best to stay away from things that will make my life harder. When i go to church i can learn ways to do just that.

What is the Church's position on abortion?

Matt Cawley
We as members of the church believe that all life is precious. The life that grows within a mother should not have to pay for the bad choices or bad situations of the mother. Adoption is an amazing alternative to terminating pregnancy. The opportunity to give the baby to a loving family that will provide for all the needs of the child including emotional as well as physical. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Matt Cawley
Mormon women are just like other women in most ways. Yet just like the men of the Mormon religion, women are taught to hold there selves to a higher standard. For example we believe that we should not have sex before marriage and that we should be faithful to our spouse after marriage. Even though the world tries to tell us otherwise, we know that chastity is important. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints values all of its members and although we have different roles in life and in the church women are just as important to the Church as men are. What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Matt Cawley
They will talk about what sets the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints apart from all the other religions. They talk about the origins of the church as it is known today as well as how it is the same church that Christ established while He was on the earth. They teach truths about why we are here on the earth and were we came from as well as were we will go after this world. They will invite you to read an account of Christ's people in the ancient Americas--The Book of Mormon. The purpose of the missionary is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them to know of His Gospel. Show more Show less
