Hi I'm Russ

I'm a husband, a foster parent, a son, and an Eagle Scout. I'm a first generation Mormon.

About Me

I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 27 years old. I was sealed for time and all eternity married in the Seattle Washington Temple in December of 2008. I have served my ward and stake in the Young Mens' organization. A ward is a neighborhood congregation similar to a parish. A stake is comprised of multiple wards and is similar to a diocese.

Why I am a Mormon

In the winter of 2004 I attended a Sacrament meeting and felt the Spirit enter my heart. At that moment I knew that the gospel of Jesus Christ was true and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had the fullness of the restored gospel. I gained a testimony that Joseph Smith did in fact see and speak to God, the Father, and his Son, Jesus Christ. I knew that Gordon B. Hinckley was a true Prophet sent to us in these days. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the current Prophet and that he leads and guides the Church today. I now that the Book of Mormon is the word of God along with the Bible, the Doctrine & Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price.

How I live my faith

I am honest with people I do business with and meet throughout the day. I read and study the Holy Scriptures with my eternal companion. We pray with thanksgiving for the gifts we have in this life and ask for those things we need. We serve as temple workers in the Vancouver British Columbia Temple and attend the temple every Saturday to perform ordinances for our ancestors and to renew our covenants.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

The purpose of life is to return to live with our Heavenly Father and become heirs to the kingdom in Heaven. Through our faithfulness in obeying the commandments of God and receiving the necessary ordinances we can stand in the presence of God at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
