Hi I'm Micah

Yes, I'm a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints... and I'm so thankful for that!

About Me

I've been a member all my life and have served a full-time mission. I am married and now practice law as an attorney.

Why I am a Mormon

Because the doctrine is true. I have personally come to know these truths as lifesaving and life-enriching in so many ways. There is certainly difficulty in living the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially in today's world, but true happiness always requires work and sacrifice.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily by keeping the commandments to the best of my ability. Life is short, there is certainly no need to get caught up in all the wrong things. In all the things I do, especially my profession, the statement I often repeat to myself is, "it's not who is right, it's what is right that is most important." I find great peace in so doing.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

I thought it might be good to address this question. The answer is of course no, we do not practice polygamy nor have we for a very long time. Yes it was practiced in the former days of the Church, but the Lord commanded that the practice cease. When it was practiced, it was only by very few persons. One of the reasons was simply that there were many widows and fatherless children at the time that needed care. A funny story, when I was in law school, I had a family law class that was taught by a very distinguished judge. I recall the day we discussed "polygamy" and related legal matters. The professor (an acting judge) just happened to look right at me when discussing the topic of polygamy and said, not knowing of course that I was a mormon, "if you were a mormon you would know they all have many wives and such..." I had to keep a straight face because my friend next to me in the class just happened to also be mormon and he was smiling. Needless to say, he and I tactfully corrected the professor afterward and had a very good discussion regarding the Church. The point being, many people, even very educated intelligent people still believe we practice polygamy which of course we do not. I only have one wife and plan to keep it that way. :) Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely! Yes, we are because everything we believe is centered around Him and His Gospel. The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ as is the Bible. He is the central figure in my life. As we strive to live the commandments given by Him, I believe the natural result is that we become like Him. In other words, we want to help others, bless lives, be humble yet strong and productive, benefit those around us. So yes, we are Christians. He is my personal Savior... Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

In Jesus Christ. He lives and is our brother and advocate. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jesus Christ died so that we could live with him and our Father in Heaven again. The reason being, we lived before we were born. We chose to come here to be tested if we would do what is right and keep the commandments. When we are born here on earth we do not remember our pre-mortal life so that we can act on faith. Each of us however, often do things that we should not and the result is we have sinned or broken commandments. Thus, because no one is perfect we need a Savior or someone who will act on our behalf when we fall short. This is the reason for the Savior. He lives today and wants us each to follow His example so that we can return to him and our father. Show more Show less
