Hi I'm Gordon

I grew up in America. I love gardening. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy gardening and sharing the produce from my garden. I love to fish and hike on mountain trails. There is no trout that I'm not anxious to seek out and catch. I'm married and am the father of five children. We enjoy doing things together as a family. We gather as a family often to spend time having barbecues, musical programs, birthday celebrations and many other important events.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Latter-day Saint (Mormon) because of the things that I have learned in my life that have touched my soul. When I was young, I had an experience while praying to God, Our Heavenly Father, that helped me to know that He lives, and that He knows me personally. Ever since then, I have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost to help me know that this is His Church on the Earth. Many times I have read the Book of Mormon and know that it is a divine source. Because of the Book of Mormon, I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God. The Bible, particularly the stories of Adam, Moses, Noah, and the Apostles in the New Testament have strengthened me, as well. It is truly a comfort to know that God is the Father of all of our spirits. There was an Apostasy where the Church that Jesus Christ established while He was on the Earth was fragmented. The Prophets were killed and the ordinances were altered. Many churches were formed that claimed a portion of the truth. In the Spring of 1820, Joseph Smith, a 14-year old boy, from Palmyra, New York, sought out God in prayer to find out which of all of the churches was right. He was told to join none of them. God the Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ utilized Joseph Smith to restore The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (which has the same organization that existed in Jesus Christ's Church while He lived in mortality. You can know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true by reading the Book of Mormon and praying to know that it is true, and of God. I offer this testimony in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

Currently, I serve as a High Councilor in my Stake (church unit containing numerous congregations in my area). My assignment in the High Council is Missionary Work. I assist Ward Mission Leaders in helping people not associated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) to learn more, and, if they express interest, helping them to take the steps necessary to become a member of the LDS Church. It is a work of love. One of my other assignments is to help young men and young women in their late teen years with their decision to go on a LDS mission, and to assist them as when they return from their missions.
