Hi I'm Allie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of 18 children, and I love them all to pieces! My family has definitely shaped who I have become and I am grateful for that. I'm a dork that is an eternal college student that still doesn't know what I want to be when I "grow up". I love being outside doing crazy, fun, adventurous things: mountain biking, rappelling, swimming, sword fighting, and snow man building. I'm very independent and love to try and fix things, even if I have no idea how to. The gospel of Jesus Christ plays a huge part in my life and affects every aspect. I would NOT be the person I am today without it. Knowing I am a daughter of God (and that he loves ME) gets me through each day. It helps me feel loved and valued in this crAZy world!

Why I am a Mormon

I'll be honest, I was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and this is a huge reason that I am still a member today. However, there comes a time in everyone's life where they need to find out if the things they have been taught by their parents are true. We can all recognize truth through the Spirit, or the Holy Ghost, and it is through Him that I have come to know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Him, and that we have prophets today. I am Mormon because I have felt this knowledge burn into my heart, and I can't deny that.

How I live my faith

My faith isn't just a "Sunday thing". To be a true disciple of Christ requires following His example each and every day, in every decision that needs to be made, or in the way I treat others. I have learned at church and through the scriptures that everyone is a child of God, and that He loves us all, and I have an obligation to treat them that way. Does this mean I'm perfect? No, but it's a start. At church my "calling" or job is to organize Monday activities for a group of singles from my ward, or congregation. It has to be a time where everyone can feel accepted and needed, and a place where everyone can have fun. A place where we can all feel like brothers and sisters and grow to love each other as such. It's an amazing job to have!

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is perfect and infinitely wise. He has created this earth as a place for us to come to (a) get a body and (b) learn to become like him and be tested. We have to achieve both of these things to be able to live with Him again someday. We want to live with Him again because we are His children and He loves us! This is my favorite doctrine! I have no doubt that God knows who I am, and that he cares for me. Each day I have a witness of that, such as simple prayers that are answered, or small things that happen throughout the day that mean so much and make me smile. Show more Show less
