Hi I'm Amanda

I live in Arkansas. I am a tax franchisee. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful husband and have two beautiful daughters. I love doing family history. I own a tax preparation business in our town. I am a convert to the church. I was raised Southern Baptist and converted when I was 20.

Why I am a Mormon

In 1993, I met my husband at the store where we were both working. We started dating and he invited me to come to church with him. As soon as I walked into the church, the spirit so strong and everyone was very friendly. I started takinig the discussions and join the church. I am the first in my family that became a member and have enjoyed every minute of it. Our branch is a family and we work together to share the gospel and support each other. I am so glad that I joined. It made a big difference in my life and the direction that it was going. I am glad that I know that my family will be together forever.

How I live my faith

I serve as Relief Society President of our little branch. I help the community learn about their family history. My husband and I raise our girls with the values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We volunteer with many organizations in our community and love to show service to friend, family, and even people we don't know.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Mormons are not much different than any other religion. Women of the church dress in modest dresses and skirts and the men in suits and ties. We dress in our best to show our respect to our Heavenly Father. We celebrate all holidays that everyone else celebrates. Show more Show less

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

This is one of the reasons that I am proud to be a member. The Mormon Church does many things to help out all over the world. At any catastrophe, you can expect members of the church and aid to be there. The church brings needed supplies all over and offers opportunities for education to many people that would never be able to make it. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

YES!!! This is one of my favorite parts of the gospel. I believe that my family will live together in heaven. I will know my family as my family members. My husband is my husband for now and for all eternity. My children are my children here on earth and for all eternity. I know that if something happened to one of us that I will see them again. I love this about the church. Before joining, I always had a question about this concept and when taking the discussions from the missionaries this came up. Makes me love the church more and more. Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Temples are a very holy place. Members who live their lives righteously are allowed to enter. There is nothing secret going on at a temple. It is used to baptisms and sealings. It is a place to leave the outside world and enter a place where you can concentrate what really matters, our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
