Hi I'm Bruce

I have loved the Mormon Tabernacle Choir since I was boy..

About Me

My greatest priorities are my relationship with God and with my family, friends and people whoever they may be. How I treat them, how I contribute to their lives and how they add value to mine is what I treasure most. My interests include astronomy, camping and photography. When I was a teenager I built my own telescope. Since that time I have shown the beauty of the night sky to thousands of people. My specialty in this hobby is teaching astronomy to elementary age children. I have created unique ways to teach through stories and hands on activities that bring this science to life. I have a Mom who is a member of the church, four children that mean the world to me and three loving sisters.

Why I am a Mormon

Before I joined the church, which was when I was 39 years old, I never read the scriptures or prayed. Yet I went to church for most of my life, but never had strong spiritual experiences. I knew it was a good idea to go, but it was a shallow experience..... Until I investigated the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. The first time I went I felt incredible. I was learning so much and I KNEW it was true. It just made sense! My life is so rich even when times are tough because I know the purpose of life. I can see the big picture. The scriptures and prayer help me to feel God's love for me, to get answers and direction in my life. Plus I know the difference between what is right and what is wrong. What a relief to have standards by which to live a good life.

How I live my faith

Reading and praying isn't enough. I live my faith by serving other people. Service may be so simple, like smiling, saying Hi, being tolerant and patient. What I love about service is that it helps me forget about myself when I am having a difficult time. I love the peaceful feeling I get after I have helped someone. My problems may not have disappeared, but they seem less important. Along with the happiness often come solutions to my challenges, or at least a feeling of greater hope or inspiration.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Our lifestyle is liberating. Because we believe we are children of a wise Heavenly Father, we follow his commandments. Those commandments steer us towards a rewarding and happier life. However, we know we have free agency, meaning we can choose to follow God or not. We don't have to do anything. We believe in following the laws of our country, being active in the community, voting and being tolerant of people of other religious beliefs. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Yes Mormons believe in the Bible. It is the word of God just as is the Book of Mormon. I read it just as much as the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Whenever someone tells me how much they love their family I ask them what happens to your family after death? As a Latter-day Saint I know that families can be together eternally, husband and wife and parents with children. My knowledge is more than what I have read. Though it is based on what I have read in the scriptures, the knowledge I have is confirmed through prayer and a feeling that is so powerful, that I KNOW it is true. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

The moment we see it- RUN. It never leads to happiness or any kind of happiness. It is a big illusion. It is degrading and makes what is pure, ugly and defiled. Show more Show less
