Hi I'm Marcus Xolani

About Me

I am Marcus from South Africa. I recently started work in a company in JHB. I joined the church in 2004 and went on mission from 2005 to 2007 in South Africa Cape Town.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I always had a feeling that I was missing something in life. I cant really number all the things that I have found in the church that have opened my eyes about life and my purpose of life, they are many. Being a Latter day saint has taught me how to study and understand the Scriptures, how to serve others more then myself, to pray and really feel that my prayers are heard and to trust the Lords will.

How I live my faith

I always try to do my best in serving in the church, I have been serving as a Young Mens President and Ward Organist. These two callings have changed my life, I love music and playing the Organ. As a young men's president, I have learned to forget myself and do my best to help the youth go strong in loving the Lord and serving there families.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Marcus Xolani
Except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God. These were the words of Jesus Christ to Nicodemus. To us Baptism is a commandment, it is a first covenant or promise we make to our Father in Heaven. As Jesus was a fully grown man when he was baptised, we to get baptised when we can account and are able to choose between wright and wrong, the age of accountability given to us by the Lord is 8, so we only baptise people 8 years and older. The scriptures say that when Jesus was baptised, He came out straight way out of the water. So we only baptise by immersion only ones, no other way. Baptism does not guarantee that you will be in heaven, one there after needs to keep on keeping all the commandments of the Lord, by simply enduring to the end. I know that every one need to be baptised by some one that has proper authority, in a right place and in a right way. It is your wright to know if the person baptising you has the authority and how they got it. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Marcus Xolani
Well, I have been one of them. When I was on mission we spoke about, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It more discussing and shearing life's experiences with people, talking about families and the importance of them. How husbands and wife's can teach their children to love and fear God. How families can have good times and fun with each other. Most of all we spoke about the important laws and commandments from God that most people don't know about. Show more Show less

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

Marcus Xolani
Forgive others as I to would want to be forgiven by the Lord. I can't claim to love the Lord but hate my neighbor, for my neighbor is the Lords creation, if I hate His creation, I then hate the creator. As nice as these words may sound, I know it can at times be hard to keep them. But as Jesus sad," Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest" It can be possible to be and do all that is required of us by the Lord. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Marcus Xolani
Not all of us are required to serve a mission. Young men 18 to about 26 years are expected to serve a mission, and for woman, 21 to about 26 or so, can serve, but for the women its not so expected of them. Only if they want and feel they should, then they can. But for us young men we take it seriously and is a commandment to us to go out to our brothers and sisters all over the world to warn them, as we have also been warned by others. What a grate experience for me to leave my home and family and forget myself and go to the rescue of others in their life's spiritual struggles. And for older people they can go as a couple when they have retired and their children can take care of themselves. Show more Show less
