Hi I'm Matthew

Husband | Father | Son | Grad Student | Healthcare Professional | I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in Salt Lake, Utah. Married with three beautiful girls. Recently moved to Birmingham, Alabama (Roll Tide!) and loving the South - and all the delicious BBQ. Currently working on an MBA from Western Governors Universriy (WGU) - I hate school, but am almost finished. I'm a seasoned healthcare professional with a passion for process improvement. Family is my #1 priority, I love video games (Xbox One), and watching movies.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Throughout time, there has always been a holy prophet (or mouthpiece for God) on earth. We learn about them in the Bible. Moses, Noah, Jacob and many others served as a prophet for Gods people. These righteous men tried to help, teach and influence others for good. Being that God does not change, I believe there is again, a prophet on the earth today. This amazing Restoration began with God & Jesus Christ appearing to Joseph Smith in the 1800's. Through this man, this prophet of God, the fullness of Christs gospel was restored again to the earth. This had to happen because after Chrsit was crucified and his apostles cast out and killed, God again needed to bring His gospel to His children. Since Jospeh Smith, the line of Gods authority, or priesthood, has continued in an unbroken chain. We have a living prophet today. His name is Thomas S. Monson. He's been chosen and called of God to lead Christs church. I know he's a man of God. I've met President Monson, talked with him, seen how he interacts with others and how concerned he is for everyone's well being. Through a living prophet we can know how we should be living today. We're taught how to be happy and enjoy life. We're taught where we came from, why we're here and what happens after this life. These restored truths bring so much peace and comfort to me. Knowing that God loves us just as much as he did Moses and the children of Isreal lets me know that I'm never alone. He knows me by name. He's anxiously awaiting to bless me. I can live with Him again someday if I remain worthy to the promises I've made (baptism and other covenants made in our holy temples). The Gospel of Jesus Christ is real and is on the earth today. The Book of Mormon is another witness, similar to the Bible, or Gods love and divinity. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lords only true church.

How I live my faith

My life & my family are how I live my faith. Everyday I try to be the best I can and help those I come in contact with. Its not always easy being the example I feel I should be, but I know blessings are in store for me as I help Gods children. Whether that be with a friendly smile, encouraging words, or help with a specific situation...I know God is aware of our actions and how we choose to spend our time. He wants us to experience success and be happy. In the Ward (local meetinghouse) I meet in, I have been asked to serve as a mission leader. This means I get to work very close to the full-time missionaries (those young men & women who devote two years of their lives teaching the Gospel) in our area. I ensure they're taken care of and, oftentimes, am able to join them in teaching others about Christ's restored church. Serving others, is not only a great way to live your faith, but truly makes life worth living.
