Hi I'm Taliatha

I'm a people watcher, a hobby farmer, a mother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read because I want to understand everything I can about the world and the people in it. There is so much to learn and it's a great feeling when I can finally understand a concept or perspective that had previously baffled me. For this reason I also love meeting new people. People are fascinating!! The more I get to know the people around me, the more I love them, it seems. Humans really are pretty great! I also enjoy our small family farm. It's kind of an experiment, since my husband and I have no previous farm experience, but we're loving it. It's especially wonderful to watch our kids enjoy the animals.

Why I am a Mormon

When I follow God's commandments, I'm happier. They really do point out the happiest path in life.

How I live my faith

I try to love everyone and speak kindly to and about them. I don't like anyone feeling left out or lonely, so I try to be liberal with my smiles and conversation, and listen to whatever a person has to say. My daily hope and strength come through prayer and studying the scriptures. Doing those two things make me happy and inspire me to reach out to others.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes! Isn't that great? We live in a confusing day, more confusing than Moses' day, I'll bet. Having a prophet is like having someone up on a high tower who can see everything and lets us know which path to go (and that path is always toward Jesus). Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

God will judge us by what is in our hearts, and it's through Christ that our hearts are purified. When we make bad choices it leads us away from Christ and makes us question His ability to save us. Bad choices always have bad consequences and do harm, even if the harm isn't immediately obvious. We're responsible to come to God with our sins and be forgiven. He can heal us only when we are ready to accept His ways and promise to go forward following His commandments. This process of repentance--of being right with God--is something we should do all the time. A lot of churches believe there is one event in a person's life when he must accept Christ, and thereafter he is saved. But we believe a person must continue to accept Christ everyday, and try each day to do good. Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Wow, this is a hard one. What frightens me most about our world's attitude toward pornography, is that it is so often discussed as a normal form of entertainment, like, everybody is viewing pornography. This can't be true, though, can it? Aren't there lots of people in the world who are still disgusted by pornography and recognize that it destroys healthy, loving attitudes about sexuality? These people need to speak a little louder. We shouldn't let the billion dollar pornography industry tell us what is normal! On a smaller scale, we can talk to the people close to us--our family members or friends--about their experience with pornography and lovingly help them break the destructive habit.
