Hi I'm Monte

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a remarkably ordinary individual. I've overcome no significant challenges or hurdles of significance in life. In fact - it's just the opposite. I was born into a loving home. I'm one of seven siblings born to parents who adored and loved each of us. I married above myself. Somehow in the George Bailey lottery of life I was lucky enough to marry a stable, loving, gentle, intelligent, and beautiful daughter of God who has been a perfect companion of over thirty years and a great mother of five. The Lord has been kind to me and I recognize the expectation that it carries -- that where much is given much is required. I love sports. I root for underdogs. I love learning. I'm consumed with a desire to improve myself. I live to see my children succeed in setting and achieving goals in their lives. I have served my kids and my community for some thirty years as scout master, football, tball, and basketball coach and school board member.

Why I am a Mormon

At the age of sixteen, while huddled in the rocks of the Mogollon rim above Camp Geronimo as a boy scout, trying to survive a a violent mid summer monsoon lightening storm, I prayed in earnest for the first time in my life. The Lord reached out to me and revealed that He IS real, that He IS there, and that He cares for me individually. It was two years later, while studying the scriptures in the warm afternoon son of an early April day on Maeser Hill that I had another remarkable experience wherein the Lord revealed to me that the Scriptures - and specifically the Book of Mormon - are true and that He had expectations of me. My life has never been the same since. Line upon line I have enjoyed other experiences that have helped provide me with guidance and the further support and love of the Savior. I live for these types of experiences in life. My service to the Lord since is a small repayment for His kindness and love He has shown me.

How I live my faith

The greatest blessings that I enjoy in life are given to me directly by the Lord -- or are indirectly touched by Him. It might be fair to say that He magnifies and enhances them. I was once taught by the Patriarch Taylor Gardner that the richest blessings that the Lord bestows upon man are the blessings of service to others. I have found great happiness and satisfaction in serving in the Church. The Book of Mormon teaches that we are all beggars in the Lord's eyes because of the way in which after all He gives us, all He asks is that we serve him. And when we do engage in the service of the Lord and others, He then immediately blesses us, causing us to continue to be in His debt. I owe all that I cherish and hold dear in life, from my testimony, to my knowledge, to my relationships to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
