Hi I'm Arthur

I'm a father, and Grandfather, A husband and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an old time techie still employed by a techology giant, which is saying something these days. I recent reinvested my time in an old time hobby of Ham Radio a childhood dream never realized and current hold an Amatuer Extra class License.

Why I am a Mormon

Many Years ago I was blessed by the Lord in a time of great need to come in contact with a faithful member, who like me was compelled to be in the US Army when we want to do other things with our lives. The introduction was but the begining. Many faces come to mind now as I ask myself why I have stayed true to the Church. I believe that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that God has a plan for our lives. It was revealied to me the hand of God in my live. If one looks it is not hard to see.

How I live my faith

I am involved in Scouting in my Ward and encourage boys to gain ther "eagle". I "home teach" (something we mormon's do once a month is visit our "families") a disabled gentlemen with CP. He and I have had many things to talk about lately as I recent had wrist surgery PRC and had to learn how to do everything left handed! What a challenge. I told my surgen I had a stupid hand and a smart hand and she responded, oh that will change! Guess what she was right!

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

For most Mormons there comes a time in there lives when they ask the question what do I believe. They pray and receive answers to prayer on a variety of subjects. The most common testimonies are of Jesus Christ being the son of God and that he came to this earth as part of the plan of redemption. We also speak of our testimony of the Book of Mormon. A book we consider scripture. A testimony becomes for most a deeply personal belief and knowledge of the subject. We are encouraged to obtain a testimony and to share that testimony. Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Part of my Testemony came by way of travels in Europe and specifically in Germany. There I was privlidged to vist more than once a Library that contained many relegious artifacts various collections of Bibles from the 11th thru the 18th centruies. One such artifact was the orginal manifest from Martin Luther along with his translation of the bible to become the Luther Bible. The Bible in so many touges, who decieds the meaning, man or God? It became clear to me that only through revelation could holy scripture be translated correctly. A restoration was needed as through the years much had be lost. It was thought that revelation had ceased. But a young boy in a grove provide that revelations continues. Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Being prepared for potential emergencies helps us to become self-reliant. Becoming self-reliant provides more personal independence, industry, thrift and self respect. It also gives more opportunity to serve and care for others in need. That said I have observed that those who have relied on goverment to provid for there needs in times of crisis and emergencies have suffered greatly. I for one truly do not want to see myself or my neighbors suffer in times of crisis. Emergency preparedness can be found in every level of goverment and industry because they recognize the critical importance of being prepared (Scout Motto). Show more Show less
