Hi I'm Matt.

Teacher. Writer. Father. Musician. Mormon.

About Me

As an English teacher, I believe in the power of language to uplift, inspire, heal, encourage, and change things for the better. I love teaching and I love sharing what I am passionate about with others. In 2011, I married my dream girl and we have two beautiful baby boys. In addition to teaching, I love cooking, reading, writing, learning, playing outside with my family, and working out. I love music and I play the guitar and the drums.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a little boy, I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. Immediately, an overwhelming feeling of peace and warmth came over me, and I heard an unmistakable “yes” in my head. As a result of that experience, I know The Book of Mormon is true, and God has confirmed that answer to me a thousand times in a thousand different ways, through various people, experiences, and through that peaceful feeling over and over again. As I have lived by the teachings of The Book of Mormon and the Bible, my family and I have been richly blessed. Because I know The Book of Mormon is true, I know that God calls prophets in every age, including our own. I also know that Jesus Christ lives, that He loves us deeply and gave His life for us, and that my church is the same church that He organized in ancient times, reestablished on the earth—for The Book of Mormon is evidence of these things. I invite anyone who sincerely yearns to answer the difficult questions of existence to read and pray about The Book of Mormon, as I have. What greater witness can you have than from God?

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith one day at a time, by doing my best to be a good husband, father, and teacher. I try to look for the good in others and to reach out and be a friend whenever possible. I also try to share my faith by being a good example and by sharing my testimony with others when I have the opportunity. I serve in the church and strive to treat others as Christ would. I also make an effort to be positive and uplifting in all that I do.
