Hi I'm Kriste

I am a mother, grandmother, a budding artist, an innovative cook and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a creative soul but my first love is reading. If I could read all day I would--so I have to remind myself that I have other talents which need attention. I get great satisfaction in drawing and painting--I make an effort to carve out some time to improve each week. Also, I am a novice photographer. I love to take photo's of flowers. I have some wonderful photos of roses from my mother's yard. From these photo's I have made some lovely invitations. I try to garden and over the years have had success--especially with tomatoes. I love my husband, children and grandchildren. We are now empty nesters with our children spread out all over the world. Because of that we don't get to see each other very often except through the internet. So when we do get together we try to make good memories. I volunteer to do many things. I have helped with children's art classes and competitions. Most recently I have volunteered to face paint at community fairs. As I volunteer to help in new opportunities, I improve in my abilities and find joy in the time I give. I love to have many people come to our home for dinner. I find joy when our meal is not only delicious and nutritious but is beautiful to the eye. Sometimes I get it just right. I love when my efforts are pleasing to everyone and especially to myself.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon because through the years as I have applied the principles of the gospel, I have a testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ. My most precious membership blessings are my experiences with The Gift of the Holy Ghost which I received when I was confirmed a member of the church. The Holy Ghost has comforted me in ways that I know God exists. Another reason I love being a Mormon is belonging to our women's organization--The Relief Society. With Charity as our motto we serve and love one another. Also, I can have blessings of comfort or health from the good worthy men in our church who hold Priesthood of God. I have been a member of the church since I was nine years old. The missionaries taught me the gospel and my mother gave permission for me to be baptized. I went to church by myself until I was twenty years old. After years of watching my example my mother became an active member of the church. The most important reason I am a Mormon is that God intended for families to be forever. I was married for eternity to my husband in the Holy Temple ensuring our children will be with us in the eternities. I have a wonderful husband who is one of the best men on the earth because he follows Christ's teachings. Together we have a relationship which is harmonious and joyful. It is best when we are daily praying and reading the scriptures together so we have inspiration to help us be better to each other and our children.

How I live my faith

The most important thing I do everyday is to pray for guidance and to read my scriptures. I have the opportunity to give service to our local church congregation by leading them in the hymns we sing every Sunday. I don't have the most beautiful voice but I can keep everyone together with our wonderful organists. I feel the Holy Spirit when we sing hymns and praises to God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. I try to do something good every day. I love visiting with the women in our church and do service for them. I go to our women's scripture class every Wednesday. I have rarely missed going to church every Sunday. When we go away on vacation we always attend church in the area we are visiting. We have always felt welcomed in going to church in many different areas. There is a wonderful camaraderie among the saints in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ I also love to go to our area temple. There is a kind caring spirit in the temple that is wonderful. That is why the temple has standards of admittance so that the spirit will be strong. Working on those standards are important to me so I will be able to have the blessing of temple attendance in my life. I have come to a knowledge that the temple is as holy as those who enter so I try to go to the temple with a repentant heart. As I try to be the best I can be-- the temple helps me be that better person. I know that as I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ I will be happy.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are a blessing to help perfect us. The temples are for us to receive blessings from our Heavenly Father if we are true and faithful to his commandments. In the temple we are baptized for our family members who are deceased. Baptism is the gateway to eternal life with our Heavenly Father. When someone dies and has not been baptized--a person worthy to go to the temple is baptized in behalf of that person. The ultimate blessing is to have the opportunity to have families sealed together for eternity. We have been told in the scriptures that we need to turn our hearts to our fathers. Show more Show less
