Hi I'm David

I believe in Christ.

About Me

I'm crazy about my wife. We just celebrated our first year of marriage, and we're best friends. I'm also a musician. I sing and play the trombone, guitar, banjo, and piano. I used to be the lead singer in a ska band called Frolicaholic throughout high school. Now I'm working and going to school to become a clinical psychologist.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a very pragmatic and logical person, and I've struggled with faith in my life, but I do have a great deal of faith that God lives and that He knows me personally. I know that He loves me and wants me to be happy in this life and forever. I believe that is why He has led me to this church. It makes so much sense to me, and I can feel the truth of the teachings in my heart. There are so many things that a person can miss when trying to find truth. I love that this church helps me in my own personal quest for knowledge, while at the same time respecting that it really is a personal quest.

How I live my faith

I find that this church is centered on helping me to build a personal relationship with God and helping me to learn and understand the teachings of Jesus. I try hard to apply those teachings in my life by being loving and honest. I also study the scriptures and pray to my Heavenly Father to strengthen my special relationship with Him. I've seen how these things have helped me and my family so much, so I went on a two year mission to the Czech Republic to help other people learn how to apply Christ's message in their own lives.

In whom should we have faith?

We should have faith in God and in His Son, Jesus Christ. In my mind, faith in God or in Christ is much more than believing that they exist. It's not only that belief, but also a trust and a hope. We trust that God is who He says He is, and that He will bless us for following Him. We have hope that His influence is real, and we live our lives in a way that reflects that. That's when faith becomes strong and can change lives. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No we don't. We do, however, esteem him as a prophet, the way we do Moses or Isaiah. The difference is this: Joseph Smith restored the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth in our day, so we do love him and his teachings. Just as the prophets of the Old Testament and the Apostles of the New Testament taught the word of God and helped people apply it to the current time, Joseph Smith was given the authority from God to teach the Gospel of Christ in our day. Since his death, he's had one successor after another that taught the same principles that all of the prophets have taught and we do talk about Joseph Smith a lot because, through God's guidance, he made this pattern possible in our time period.
