Hi I'm John Meyer

I grew up in a small town, now travel around the world. And I became a Mormon, a follower of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I'm a father of three children, ages 18, 22, and 24. I grew up on a small town farm. Found a way to pay for college, grad school, and law school. Joined the Church at age 22 and have absolutely enjoyed this peaceful lifestyle.     Oh... an my son was on an awesome remote island for 2 years: www.ElderMeyer.blogspot.com

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church because God specifically answered my sincere prayer about whether the Book of Mormon was true. I've investigated over 10 churches, all Christian. After 3 months of intense study about this Church, for example, I read 12 pro LDS Church and 12 anti-Mormon books... I received a personal witness that God lives, Jesus is the Christ, and that the Lord speaks to a living prophet even today. I also love reading the Bible.

How I live my faith

My favorite part of serving in the Church is visiting/serving several families my two sons and I really care about. I appreciate the opportunities to serve others by way of ministering, cutting firewood, repairing fences, painting, just about whatever our friends might need help with. I also enjoy reading about the Savior and enjoy good books in general. Now that we have an iPad, I am able to read even more since books are easy to take with me while traveling. I really love the gospel of Jesus Christ and feel so grateful to have found it.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

John Meyer
I love and believe the words found recorded in the Bible. My favorite book is Isaiah, particularly chapter 2. Here, Isaiah sees these latter days and the preparation events for Christ's Second Coming. I also enjoy paying close attention to world-wide events, and find it a thrill to study what the Bible has to say about our exciting times. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

John Meyer
It is a wonderful way to raise a family. We have one remaining teenagers in our home, our oldest is at college and another is serving a 2 year mission on a tiny pacific island -- www.ElderMeyer.blogspot.com --. I've always heard that the teenage years would be full of strife and drama. My experience couldn't be any further from that. I absolutely LOVE the harmony, fun, and time I get to spend with my children. Seriously, there are very very few arguments. I completely trust and respect each of my children and appreciate the honorable way they conduct their lives. I attribute our family experience to a wonderful wife, and the teachings of our Church which centers its doctrine on Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

John Meyer
As I studied and investigated this Church, I came to understand that family relationships can continue long after we depart this life. That made perfect sense to me. As I read Matthew chapter 18, verse 18 it was a thrill to recognize that the authority to formally extend marriage beyond "till death do ye part" was available to us today.   Show more Show less
