Hi I'm Sabrina Elizabeth

I'm a Canadian. I'm a Biologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt. I wear my mittens on a string so I don't lose them. I like to travel, and have lived in Ukraine as a volunteer English teacher for children. I am married to a nurse. I have a Masters degree in Zoology. I am lucky to be a stay-at-home mom for a sweet 2-year old boy.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that God lives and that He loves us. I know that He has provided a way for us to be happy, by following His teachings. I know that He has called a Prophet today to help us know His will for us. Because I know these things, and because I feel happiest when I follow Christ, I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I attend church with my family every Sunday in my congregation of young singles, families, and seniors. I love being involved, and willingly serve in any capacity. Right now I have the privilege of coordinating the music for our Sunday services. I pray regularly and study from the Bible and Book of Mormon daily to learn more about God's teachings, and how I can apply them in my life.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Sabrina Elizabeth
God is the same yesterday, today and forever. His Church is organized now just as it was in the time of Christ. The 12 Apostles today help lead and direct His work on earth - just as in the time of Christ. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending a Mormon Church and a Mormon Temple?

Sabrina Elizabeth
A Mormon Church is open to all the public for general worship services on Sundays. A Mormon Temple is only open to those who meet the personal requirements to enter it (such as being honest, living the commandments of God, believing in Jesus Christ, knowing that the Prophet is God's representative, etc.). This is because the Temple is God's house on earth, and must be kept "clean." The Temple is closed on Sundays and open the during the week, for a more personal form of education. All people are encouraged to become ready to enter the Temple. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Sabrina Elizabeth
A testimony is essentially having the conviction that the things you know are true. Sharing a testimony is making a declaration of belief/knowledge - much like how one will testify in court that what they share is the truth. Same thing for a testimony of God and His gospel. Show more Show less

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Sabrina Elizabeth
Tithing money is used to help finance the work of God. Typically those funds are used to build new meetinghouses and temples. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Sabrina Elizabeth
No. But it is strongly recommended for men, and encouraged for women. I chose to serve a mission because I wanted to help other people learn why the gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me so much happiness. It was a wonderful growing and faith-promoting experience. I loved it! Show more Show less

What is the Relief Society?

Sabrina Elizabeth
I love Relief Society! It is a huge organization for women, that focuses on teaching us how we can improve ourselves and the lives of others around us. Show more Show less
