Hi I'm Shane Goldberg

I grew up in South Australia, now living in Queensland, I love sports, photography and my family and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married with 3 beautiful daughters! I really love being with my family and doing things together. I have been really blessed with the most amazing wife sorry guys she's mine!. We have lots of fun together, laugh lots and really enjoy spending our time together. We both really love cultures and learning about different parts of the world particularly Asia. I'm Australian born and love my country. I also love sports everything from Tennis, Swimming, Triathlons, Judo, Athletics to Cycling. I'm an entrepreneurial kind of guy and have worked for myself for the past 6 or 7 years now. I love photography and Photoshop and love helping others get better at it too. I love Asian cultures and have visited Asia on a number of occasions. I speak Thai. I love Thai food. My wife can make some AMAZING Thai dishes Green Curry being one of them!! YUM!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 16 years of age I was faced with a tragedy in my life. My grandfather became very ill and slowly died of a lung condition. This was extremely difficult to deal with. This made me start to question what life was all about and what was important in life. Not long after that I went to the movies with my best buddy Crowley at the time and we watched a movie that had a powerful effect on me at the time and got me thinking more about what life is really all about and if there really is more to life than just living, working and dying! I think even at a young age I had a sense that there was more to life than that. The following day at school I got talking to another good friend of mine Nicholl about what he believes about the afterlife and if there really is more to this life than just living and dying. He was able to share with me what he believed to be true. It was amazing. I’d never heard anything like it before. I really wanted to learn more. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not long after that experience I began learning the gospel with some of the missionaries from his church. They had 6 lessons they taught me at my friends home. I would ride my bike around 32km round trip on the weekends to go to his house and learn more. It was an amazing experience. After a number of months of learning with the missionaries and talking to my friend, praying for myself and really trying to live the commandments so I could gain a testimony and conviction that it was right, I decided to follow the Saviors example and be baptized by immersion. This was the beginning for me as a member of the church. About 5 years later I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to serve a mission for our Heavenly Father in the Kingdom of Thailand. This was another amazing experience. More on that later

How I live my faith

Currently I'm serving as a Bishop of our ward The Tallai Ward. I like to refer to it as the "Miracle Ward". We have so many amazing people in our ward. (Ward = Congregation). I currently spend alot of time with the youth and younger people of our ward. I also help to run the ward. I love visiting with our members to see how they are going. One of the other things I also really love doing is having the missionaries in our home. We currently have 2 amazing Sister (female) missionaries serving in our ward.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Shane Goldberg
Most of my family are not members of the church and I love to help them and all people in any way I can. I had the most amazing opportunity to be a missionary in Thailand to help all Thai people for a few years. I was able to help people of all religions and races over there. Show more Show less
