Hi I'm Sherrie

I grew up in a small town in Washington state. I teach 4th grade. I am a mother. I am a grandmother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom with 3 beautiful step-daughters and 4 fun grandchildren. I am an elementary school teacher. I have taught for 25 years. I love reading children's fiction and finding new books to share with my students. I enjoy dabbling in photography. I love working in my flower garden and just watching things grow. I like being in nature and watching wildlife. I like to draw and do fabric painting. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the England, Birmingham mission from 1979-1981. I loved meeting and making new friends in England.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that it is a second witness of Jesus Christ to go hand and hand with the Holy Bible. I have prayed about these things and have had a witness by the Holy Ghost that they are true. I know that Christ set up a church when He was upon the earth and that He has not abandoned us in this time. The gospel is for all time, not just the time of Christ.

How I live my faith

I had the oppurtunity to work with the young women in my area. I helped plan service projects, camps and fun activities for them to participate in. I have a calling as a visiting teacher. I am assigned a partner and she and I visit 3 women at least on a monthly basis, to give them a gospel message and see if they have any special needs that we might be able to help them with. I am now serving in the Primary- I am teaching a group of 6 & 7 year olds. We learn about Jesus and our Heavenly Father and that we are each important in the sight of God. I have family prayer daily and try to read the scriptures on a daily basis. My husband and I try to be of service to our children and to our neighbors and community.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

We believe that a person needs to be 8 years old before they can be bapized. That they should be of an age of accountability. We believe little children to be innocent and have no need of baptism until they are 8 years old. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at this time. I know him to truly be a prophet of God. Show more Show less
