Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in Utah and have been a Mormon my whole life.

About Me

I went to college in Utah and received a degree in Elementary Education. I met my husband at college, and we now have a little 9 month old baby. I am a stay at home mom, and I love what I do. In addition to caring for my family, I like to sew, play the flute, and be outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of Christ's church because it makes me very happy. Whenever I follow the commandments that God has given, I am blessed immensely. I feel that the commandments we are given are not limitations, but they are guidlines that will help us do what is right so that we can return to our Heavenly Father. Our Heavenly Father wants us to return, and the only way we can, is if we follow His plan and come to know our Savior and repent of our sins. The Atonement is the only way that we can return to our Heavenly Father. I am so thankful that God sent his son to die for us so that we can repent and live with him again. I am married to my husband in the temple which makes it possible for us to be with each other for eternity, if we continue to be faithful to the gospel. When death separates us here on earth, I know that it is not the end, which motivates me to do even better. I know that Heavenly Father knows us individually and knows what is best for us. In difficult situations, the only way for me to find real peace is to have faith in Jesus Christ and trust that everything will work out in the end. The gospel is the only way to find real happiness in this life and in the life to come, and that's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I am a visiting teacher. I love to visit other ladies in our church and share with them a brief message about a gospel topic each month. I enjoy visiting them and getting to know them better. I love getting to know people and I make sure that I know my neighbors where I live. Our family invites our neighbors over for dinner to get to know them individually. Once we have made that connection with our neighbors, it seems that people are much more friendly to each other, and care for one another's well-being.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The Mormon prophet today is President Thomas S. Monson. He leads our church today. The prophet receives direct inspiration from God and is able to guide the church. When the prophet speaks to us, it is as if God is speaking to us and guiding us. The prophet is the only one who can receive direction for the entire church. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

No. Mormons love to help people of all races, nationalities, and religions. Christ taught that we must love one another and serve each other. We love to serve anyone who is in need! Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes! A husband and wife can be together forever if they are sealed in the temple. The temple is essential to having a marriage last for eternity. Both the husband and wife must be faithful to the church and keep the commandments in order for it to be in effect after they die. Families will be with each other in heaven if they have been righteous and stayed faithful to the covenants they have made. Show more Show less
