Hi I'm Marcel
I'm learning parkour in middle age. I grew up in Utah not knowing anything about Mormons. Now, I'm a Mormon.
I'm a dad. I have a career with a large company doing computer software. I'm a youth leader at church. I'm a race car driver wannbe. I love activities such as dirt biking and doing a mud run. I love serving my wife and playing with my kids.
The wonderful thing about this church is that it is OK to ask questions. And you should expect to get answers, both from the church leaders, as well as personal revelation from God. Don't just take people's word for it. God's plan, as it is taught here, makes sense, the pieces fit together, and it feels right. With personal revelation you should expect to feel your answer, your heart and spirit is touched, and it is more than just a good idea or reason. I now understand where I came from, why I am here, and where I am going. And that God loves me, even with my shortcomings. I understand that when my life doesn't always go according to my plan, that God has a plan for me, and I can feel peace when I trust Him.
I have learned to stick my neck out in uncomfortable situations and do what is right or what is needed, and I've been amazed at the good things I've learned and the skills I've developed, and the people I've served. I visit a few families in our congregation each month. I serve as a youth leader, and help the young men progress in Boys Scouts and their spiritual knowledge and testimony. The lay ministry of the church gets everyone involved, instead of just spectating. This is how we grow as individuals. This, along with being parents, is how we begin to acquire the attributes of God and take upon ourselves the name of Christ.
