Hi I'm Marc

I'm a Canadian-American Mormon!

About Me

I am dual citizen of Canada and the USA. I just returned to Canada after six years of schooling in the US with my wife, two sons and a girl on the way. I am a clinical social worker working as a counselor at a walk-in mental health clinic. I have lived in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta Canada. Also, Idaho, Utah and Georgia. I love diversity in culture, faith and ethnicities. I love to spend time with my family, sing, dance and play sports.

Why I am a Mormon

My family history in the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints starts in the early 1900's in southern Alberta. My father was born to an active LDS family and my mother was a recent covert, the only member of her family for over 32 years. Like most I was raised by good parents and a strong supportive LDS community in Alberta. However, there did come a time in my youth, where I determined to find out for myself if this was indeed the true church of Christ. I took the question to God and after praying and seeking inspiration I felt a great peace on one occasion and felt in my heart that I already knew, and had a witness of the truth because I had experienced the fruits of the church. As I studied the scriptures including the Bible and Book of Mormon and prayed to know if Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, I felt assurance through the Holy Ghost. I believe in Jesus Christ that He is my saviour and friend. I have found truth in the words of a prophet today, the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith and all of these things lead me and point me to Christ. And I hope I can share the joy and peace the Gospel of Christ brings to me and my loved ones.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Well one famous statement about the LDs church is that: "They take care of their own". I have heard this shared my non-members in the US and Canada. We do have programs and serve each other both physically, spiritually and we donate to humanitarian aid all over the world. However, the same statement can be an indictment... We need to be caring and serving all of our brothers and sisters in the earth. Our church leaders need to know and understand the needs of the community and other faiths. We need to be a light to all not just our own. Show more Show less
