Hi I'm Jack Manis

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live with my beautiful wife, three little boys, and poodle named Charlemagne

Why I am a Mormon

I find that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives me more answers to my questions than anywhere else. I find peace and a feeling of God's love for me as I read the Book of Mormon and listen to the words of living prophets. I have learned more about the Savior and his atonement for my sins through reading the Book of Mormon than I would have known otherwise. I love that this is a church that allows you to ask questions and find answers through faith.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in small ways daily--always trying to point those around me to Christ.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Jack Manis
Since the beginning, God has chosen righteous men through whom he can communicate with his children on Earth. These men were known as prophets in the bible. God chose Joseph Smith to be a prophet in this age who restored the true church of Christ on the earth. God has continue to call men as prophets by inspiration, or revelation, to lead his church and people. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Jack Manis
Faith in Christ is developed as we read his inspired teachings in the holy scriptures. The Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine of Covenants give us insight about who Jesus is, what he did for us, and what he expects of us. This knowledge allows us to have greater trust in him and his promises, gain strength to overcome obstacles in our lives, and prepare to return to live with our Heavenly Father after this life is over. Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Jack Manis
Latter-day Saints only worship God the father through his son Jesus. We do not worship Joseph Smith, but we do revere him as a prophet of God. Just as many people have a profound respect for the prophets of the bible--like Noah, Abraham, or Moses--because of their teachings and wisdom, Mormons recognize in Joseph Smith God's mercy in providing a mouthpiece through which he can teach us, guide us and express his love. What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Jack Manis
The Atonement is term used to describe the suffering, sacrifice, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through these acts Jesus took upon himself the sins of all mankind. He took our sins upon himself so that we would not have to be punished for them if we are willing to keep his commandments and live according to his teachings. In short, the Atonement is our reconciliation with God due to the mercies of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
