Hi I'm Kristi

I grew up in California. I'm getting an English degree. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 21 year-old college senior working towards a degree in English. I love to read books, and am in love with the written word. I want to be an author and be paid to do what I love for a living. I'm a sweets fanatic and love to bake goodies for my friends and stalk cooking blogs online. I love music, especially the classic rock I grew up listening to with my parents. Laughing is one of my favorite activities. If you can make me laugh, then I know you are an okay person! Life's pretty good for the most part, and I try to remember that.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of Mormon family members. Both sides of my family can track their lines back to the pioneers crossing the plains. But that's not why I am a Mormon. Today's world is a scary place in the best of circumstances, and we all know that life rarely gives us those. I've witnessed the hand of God too many times in my life not to believe. The idea that we go nowhere after this life never sat well me. This life is too hard to be for naught after we die. To know where I came from, and what I can become, has shaped my entire life. I'm not a perfect person by any means, and to be a part of a religion that accepts that, that teaches that God loves me despite of all my flaws, is everything to me. In a world where we often feel alone, I know that I am not. I know that God is my constant companion, and that He cares about me. My father got very sick while I was in high school, and He helped me through it. He is my friend and biggest supporter. He wants nothing but the best for and from me. I know that through God's eternal plan for us, our families can be together forever, even after we die. I could never get on board with a religion that didn't have a provision laid out for my family. They are every part of me, and to be without them after I die would be no heaven for me. Heaven is where my family will be. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offered me all of that. I'm not alone, I am loved, I know who I am, I know my family will be together forever, and I know that being Mormon is the best thing about me.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in a student ward or congregation, as a liaison between the adult leadership of the Church in our area, and other student leaders in my ward. We discuss ways to better emulate the Savior, and how live a more Christ-like life in a college environment. We also address problems that we, as young people, are facing in the world today, and ways we can help each other. I try to read my scriptures and pray daily, but I recognize that I'm not perfect in this. It's a constant struggle to do better. Mostly, I just recognize the power and hand of God in my life, and love my Savior with all my heart. Because I recognize that love, I love myself. In loving myself, I abstain from alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and other harmful substances. I can be crazy enough on my own without adding alcohol into the mix, haha! I just try to be the best that I can be, and realize that I represent Jesus Christ every time I walk out my door.
