Hi I'm Gary K.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Western Arizona with my wife of over 25 years. We have a daughter going to college in California, a son who just got back from his Mission in North Carolina, a daughter working an a career as a pastry chef, and a daughter in high school. I am a musician and play clarinet, sax and flute. I am involved in musical theater and other community music groups. We also are members of the Society of Creative Anachronism.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the Church after I got engaged to my wife. She was a member and I was not. When a family member of mine heard I was going to marry a "Mormon" they decided that I should be told about the Church. They lectured me and gave me all the anti-church literature that was available at the time. As I read this stuff I did not seem consistent with what saw as I delt with church members. I asked my wife for some answers. She was a relativaly new member at the time and did not answers to all my questions, but whe knew someone that did. That's when I started the missionary lessons. I had been searching for the "right" religion for a long time, and found that the missionaries had my answer. I was baptized on my 29th birthday.

How I live my faith

The obvious one is I got to church regularly. I am the Ward Choir Director and enjoy sharing my musical knowledge and talents to sing joyous praises to the Lord. I am always available to help in the community as needed. Lately I have only been called on to help move families in and out of our area, but that is a big job! I take any opportunity I can to talk or teach about my testimony, the church, and our beliefs.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Gary K.
We are here to obtain a mortal body. During this time on earth we are given the opportunity to do the things we must to get on the 'striaight and narrow path" to return to our Heavenly Father. It is not an easy path but there is much joy and happiness as you stay on the path. There also times of great trial which help us grow. All of what we experience builds our personal testimony and stregthen our reslove to stay on the path to return to Heavenly Father, the ulitmate goal and purpose of life. Show more Show less
