Hi I'm Colt

I am a software engineer living in Minnesota with my wife and 3 young children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 3 beautiful young kids and husband to a fabulous wife. I develop software to pay the bills. For fun I like to play Rock Band, biking, and camping with my kids.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me as a Mormon in Utah. I always felt strongly as a child that the Church and its teachings were the truth. But when it was time for me to serve a 2 year mission for the Church I didn't want any doubts. So I knelt in sincere prayer and as I prayed memories flashed through my mind of times in my life that the truthfulness of the Gospel was made manifest. I knew then it was true. The guidance, comfort, and knowledge the Church has given through-out my life has been invaluable. I love the life it offers and wouldn't want to live any other way.

How I live my faith

Aside from attending weekly services, I serve as a clerk helping our bishop with his many duties. I also regularly visit families who have become very good friends. I strive to be a good example for my children and others. I feel it is important to live as much like Christ as possible with kindness and a concern for others.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Most importantly it is a commandment found in the scriptures Malachi 3:10. A tithe is one-tenth. The Church uses these funds to improve the lives of its members and the World. I am grateful for the opportunity to give 10% of my income to such a great cause. All that I have comes from God and all he asks for in return is a tenth. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

As a child I remember reading scriptures regularly and I remember distinctly a feeling of peace and comfort even though I didn't understand much of what I read. As I grew older I came to know that what I felt was the Spirit of God testifying to me the truth of what I read. From reading scriptures you are taught true doctrine and come to know our Savior. This knowledge adds strength helping you resist temptation and avoid sin. It becomes a guiding compass for your life. Show more Show less
