Hi I'm Darrell

About Me

Currently I am a full-time student in graduate school. I like to work hard and have fun with my family and friends. I think that God has greatly blessed me to live in such a great country and have so many blessings in my life. I am especially grateful for the sacrifice and example of Jesus Christ for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I believe that it is Christ's true church. I know that the Book of Mormon contains God's word as does the Holy Bible. I feel that anyone can find out for themselves if the Book of Mormon is true just by reading it. It is wonderful to have prophets and apostles on the earth today as in the time of Christ's ministry. Christ established His church. He is at the head of the church and leads and guides this work. No one is paid in this church. All members of Christ's church are equal in his sight. He loves all people and invites them to come and learn of Him. I know we can come to learn of Christ through prayer, scripture study, and through obedience to his commandments. We also need to serve others. By doing so Christ has promised to bless us. I know that after my baptism, i received the gift of the Holy Ghost that was given to the early followers of Christ after His resurrection. I know that he lives today and wants us to become like Him. I have received many blessings from following His example in my life.

How I live my faith

I try to keep the ten commandments and follow the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I think that He would want me to do the things that He would do if he were here. I love the scriptures and think that we have in them the words of eternal life that can teach us all things that we must do in this life to be truly happy. I feel that to live my faith I need to be working to help those around me, to serve others. I think that the best things in this life are to serve others, and in doing so I know that I will come to love others as Jesus would love them.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Because it is given from God, and one must be authorized to perform these ordinances. See the Bible for more information on this. Jesus went to John the Baptist to be baptized. We too must be baptized by one who has the priesthood of Aaron. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Because it is a requirement to be living the commandments of God and to have been baptized before one can enter the temple. The children of Israel also had to prepare to worship in the tabernacle, and before they could enter. The same was also true for ancient temples like that of Salomon's Temple. In the temple we worship Christ and learn about Him. We can also be married to our spouse in the temple by one who has power and authority from God's prophet to marry us for time and all eternity. Baptisms are also performed in the temple for our loved ones who were not able to be baptize when they were alive. These baptisms are performed for them so that they too can be saved if they accept the ordinance and choose to follow Christ and to take upon them His name. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

I have a regular job teaching school. I like to work hard, and have fun as well. I love my family, friends, community, and country. I think that we are like anyone who is trying to live and follow the teachings of Jesus. I know that if I sin I can repent and move on with my life. I am thankful for the life that I have. I think that all good people will recognize the good in others. I hope that my conduct reflects my love for all people and for my Savior. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

We attend church. We try and live Christ's teachings in our own lives. On Sunday's we attend church services. Because this is a lay ministry, all members of the church serve voluntarily in providing church services. Church membership is simply part of worshiping Jesus Christ by taking on us the name of Christ through baptism. Show more Show less
