Hi I'm Pui Ching Abbey Poon Zhao

I'm a Mormon. I was always a hard working student in Hong Kong.A bloody blister on my head when I was 18 changed everything.

About Me

I grew up in a middle class family in Hong Kong. My dad didn't have the privilege to study when he was young and I was taught to put all my focus on school work as I learned from my father's childhood stories at dining table. Back in the 1990s, examination to college was the biggest challenge to students, students finished school at 3:30pm and students will then go to tutoring classes. I often stayed at tutoring school till 8/9pm and studied till midnight at home everyday before the exam. One night I scratched my head and found blood in my hands. I was sacred and wondered what happened. That's when I started to ponder what is the purpose of my life. I didn't believe that I came to earth to study, to find a job, to have a family. What if I died tomorrow, the As that I got on report card would not do me any good. I never party or date or do anything crazy. I started my search for the purpose of life as I believe there should be more to it. I called a friend and asked for Missionaries information. I remembered the first time I saw the missionaries in a hot summer. I remembered I felt something special, got goose bumps and felt like someone hugged me. I read the Book of Mormon nonstop under my covers in a week. The Holy Ghost manifested to me that IT is TRUE. After many prayers and pondering, I wrote down lots of reasons on a big card to explain to my parents why I want and need to join the Church. Heavenly Father softened their hearts and I was baptized on my 19th birthday.

Why I am a Mormon

Getting into the water is just the first step like getting pass the gate to the castle. I was worried that I missed 19 years of studying the scriptures and teaching when I first joined the church. Therefore, I applied to Brigham Young University and took religious classes along with my regular classes. I am never a disobedient daughter and I always study well. The difference is I now learn that I learn to serve other, I appreciate my parents for their hard works. I will impact those around me and will teach my own children with correct principles. I will be example to the youth, my little cub scouts. The morals is far more important than just academic success. True happiness come from within that this fast digital era lacks. Family is the fundamental unit that everyone needs. I am grateful that I learn to look pass others imperfection and to see others potentials. We all make mistakes along the way but our Savior provide a way for us to repent. As we keep trying to live the way HE show us, we will happy. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is True. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know Heavenly Father love everyone of us and I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

It has been 17 years since I joined the Church in 1997. I was blessed to study at BYUH and BYU Provo. Even though I was not able to serve a full time mission due to my parents opposition. I was able to help in Missionary Training center MTC as 'pretend' investigator and helped train Hong Kong Mission President couple when I attend BYU. Heavenly Father blessed me that I got my accounting master and He brought me to the East Coast working as Tax accountant for Deloitte for couple years. My husband Da who served in Sydney Cantonese Mission found me and remembered me as an investigator from MTC when he was a missionary there. We now married and have three crazy children. We love the Young people and have been watching them grow and try to help them in anyway possible. The gospel in my life help me to know that we are here to learn and to grow. We will find happiness as we follow our Savior Jesus Christ example. This is the time of probation to see if we will follow Him and keep the commandments of Our Heavenly Father. I am grateful that the bloodlust blister went away and I got my answer about the purpose of life. Life gets very busy and we can easily lose sight of what is important. Family is essential to God's plan. I am grateful that I was blessed with the opportunity to find out 17 years ago and I pray that my life story will inspire you to search for yourself. Did I mention I cannot wait to serve my mission as couple missionary? I am currently a stay home mother, a part time tax accountant,a stake young women secretary, a cub scout den leader, a Elementary School PTA Treasurer, a group piano class coordinator, and a classroom volunteer and of course, I'm a Mormon.
