Hi I'm Michael

I'm a devoted husband, software developer, and yes! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Me = Software Developer + Dad + Husband + Mormon; What makes me happy? Spending time with family. Being outdoors. Serving others. Eating cookies, brownies, and ice cream. Being on my bike and going for long rides.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? The first thing someone might think is, "Well, you grew up as one." Although that's true, I know many people that grew up in church that are no longer affiliated with any religion. The reason I am a Mormon is because I have done what so many others have done. That is to ask God, our Heavenly Father, if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His church on the earth that is guided by a prophet chosen by Him. Although I never heard a voice or saw a vision, I did and continue to have a spiritual confirmation that this church is His. As Christ taught in Matthew 7, "By their fruits ye shall know them." I look at the fruits that I have received through my faith and they are numerous. I have a wonderful family with a great Spirit in our home. I have a peace and solid understanding of where I came from, why I'm here, and where I'm going. I have the ability to hear from prophets and Apostles on a regular schedule to receive revelation. I know that although there are trials, temptations, and outright terrible things that happen in this life, there is a God in Heaven that loves me and you. Although terrible things happen, I know that one of the most important gifts He has given us is the gift to choose - to choose eternal life with Him or to choose some other life. Some people choose to do terrible things and other people choose to do remarkable things. But no matter what things we go through in our life, all will be made right through the Atonement of Christ.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in a position called the "Seminary Teacher". As a seminary teacher, I have the opportunity to read and study the scriptures everyday and prepare lessons to teach high school students. Class starts each school morning at 6:00, far before the sun rise. This year, we're studying the Doctrine and Covenants, which includes a lot of church history. Although it's early and time consuming, this opportunity to serve has been a huge blessing to me. It's helped me understand how revelation truly works, how the Lord revealed His church one bit at a time, and how we can apply many of those teachings even today. Beyond my calling as a seminary teacher, I just strive to be a good person. I'm generally very optimistic, try to have fun, and put a smile on the faces of those around me. If I see someone having a bad day, I try to lend an ear and hear out their concerns. Why do I do all of this? Because I want to be like my Savior. He is the best example, so why not? It makes life so much richer!

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

How do we increase our faith in Christ? It's by doing the simple things. Reading your scriptures. Praying. Looking for opportunities to serve and do the things Christ would do. Often, it's helpful to set a goal to be more Christlike, such as "I want to be more humble." By setting goals, progression and faith grows even quicker. Show more Show less
