Hi I'm Butch Horsford
I've grown up on a farm in Maromaku, went to the local school and have continued farming. I'm a Mormon.
I'm a twin and one of eight siblings. I played rugby from the age of 4, and enjoy most sports. Attended boarding school for 4 years. Served a mission for 2 years. Happily married for 30 years to my sweetheart. We have 6 children, 2 sons and 4 daughters. Have always worked outdoors. As a hobbie I enjoy working with wood, and making furniture. To relax I like listening to music.
Why I am a Mormon
I was brought up by good faithful parents. My mother being a 3rd generation member. My father became a convert following the 2nd world war. I was taught by example in a good home and have chosen to continue to follow those teachings. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings an inner peace and direction in my life reguardless of what challenges and disapointments face myself and family. For the most part happiness and pleasant times are shared by our family. This has helped us to be better members of our community and to enjoy the many good people we associate with. The church is a part of my everyday life and as I continue to try each day to improve in some way, I am able to better understand who I am and to have more appreciation and understanding for others. I know I have a Father in Heaven who Loves and underatands not only me but all of us.
How I live my faith
I enjoy living in the country and our community, and to try and help it to be a better place. I serve on our school board, helping our children to get the best education they can. I am involed with the community's recreation and reserves board. After serving a 2 year mission for the church, I married. My wife and I have never moved more than 10 Kms, so we have many life long friends. We try to support our community and be good citizens and examples. Many years of service have been spent working with the youth and helping adults to strenghten their personal lives, marriages and families.
