How Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ Help You Endure Tough Times

By Mormon.org

Do you ever feel like life is too hard? Perhaps you feel like you’re stuck in a hail storm, symbolically being pelted with sadness and sickness.

Sometimes you go through trials where you feel alone or feel that you can’t possibly endure. But remember, you are never alone. God loves you, and He wants to help you. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to help you endure the difficulties of life.

Through Faith in Jesus Christ

When bad things happen, it can shake your personal faith in Jesus. But faith is exactly what you need to endure your trials.

Faith is a source of action and power. When you have faith in Jesus, you completely trust and rely on Him. You believe that Jesus understands your trials and knows your feelings, even if you don’t fully understand how.

Because Jesus understands your pains and infirmities through His atoning sacrifice, He knows how to help you through life’s daily challenges. When you put your faith in Jesus, He will give you strength to face your trials.

Through the Atoning Sacrifice of Jesus Christ

Remember that Jesus Christ came to earth and experienced the trials and difficulties of mortality. He understands what it’s like to be mortal and to experience temptation and suffering (see Alma 7:11–12). In addition, during His atoning sacrifice, He took upon Himself our sins, our pains, and our sicknesses so He would know “how to succor his people according to their infirmities” (Alma 7:12).

Jesus, along with Heavenly Father, knows what you’re going through. They know the true feelings of your heart. Through Jesus’s life and Atonement, He was able to experience and comprehend all things, which allows Him to extend perfect empathy and mercy to you in all your trials and tragedies.

Through Prayer

Prayer is one way to receive comfort during difficult situations. Our trials humble us, and if we will pour out a humble heart to God through prayer, we can receive comfort. We pray to our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, and then we receive comfort through the Holy Ghost.

Through the Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost works through the Light, or Spirit, of Christ, and all people, no matter their religion, can have the Spirit of Christ with them. His Holy Spirit, or the Holy Ghost, is a comforter.

None of us are happy 100 percent of the time. We’re not supposed to be. Part of life is experiencing sadness and anxiety. But oftentimes, the Holy Ghost is there to comfort us and provide peace when we’re going through tough times.

No matter how difficult your trials may be, you can know that you are never alone. Heavenly Father and Jesus understand what you’re going through, and They have provided ways to help comfort you and calm the storms in your life.
