Get In Touch With Your Spirituality: 5 Ways To Start Today

Spirituality is an ethereal characteristic, but one that many people long for and strive to develop throughout their lives. Getting in touch with your spirituality can feel overwhelming, but here are five tips to help you begin to find your spiritual side.

Remember Your Purpose

Life’s questions like "Who am I?" "Why am I here?" and "Where am I going?" can be answered through study, faith, and prayer.

Recognize Your Worth

My life, your life, every human life, has worth and value.

In John 3:16, it says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.” More simply put, in the Doctrine and Covenants it reads, “Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God.”

Everything God has done and will do is for us, His children, and we are His greatest creation.

Let Go

Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can all be forgiven of our sins and mistakes. Don’t hold on to the dark past or stay in the shadows when you can live a free and sunlit life.

D. Todd Christofferson has said, “Repentance is a divine gift, and there should be a smile on our faces when we speak of it. It points us to freedom, confidence, and peace. Rather than interrupting the celebration, the gift of repentance is the cause for true celebration.”

Stay Connected

Like any form of exercise, it takes consistent effort to grow spiritually. Constant communication with God will help you stay connected and tuned in to the Spirit.

Throughout the scriptures, prophets and righteous followers of God prayed regularly, both when things were good and when things were bad. Establishing a habit of regular prayer will invite God’s light and Spirit to always stay with you.

Be Present

There’s no doubt life can get chaotic and hectic. But taking things one day at a time and keeping the big picture in mind can help minimize the amount of worldly stress that you feel.

Remembering your worth and purpose, letting go of the past, staying connected and being present can all help you find peace and get in touch with your spirituality.
