Christmas Campaign: #ShareTheGift

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” —John 3:16

We all have a memory of that gift we received as a child. This gift, or memories associated with it, helped shape our childhood and provided cherished moments that we will never forget.

When we first unwrapped the gift, we may have discovered it with wide eyes. As we continually embraced the gift, we realized the happiness it brought into our lives. Perhaps we also had a desire to share the gift, hoping that others would receive as much joy as we had from it.

No matter how great or grand our memories of that particular gift may be, there is one gift far greater than anything we may have received materially; it is a gift that has already been given to each of us.

The first gift of Christmas was the gift of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Because God so loved the world and so loved us, He provided us with the most sacred gift of His Son—a gift that can heal us, cleanse us, and transform us.

This Christmas season, discover, embrace, and share the gift of Christ through the “He Is the Gift” worldwide campaign.

Discover the Gift

We discover the gift as we ponder the scriptures, pray, worship Christ, and strive to know what He did for us. When we understand what the life of Jesus Christ means and how He can change us, we come to understand the love our Father in Heaven showed for us by sending us this gift. As our knowledge deepens and builds, so does our love for Jesus Christ and our desire to follow Him.

Embrace the Gift

We embrace the gift by channeling our love for Him into action. We obey the commandments, we love and serve those around us, and we continually seek to become better through Him and because of Him. We repent when we make a mistake; we seek out the needy, the poor, and the afflicted; and we truly become His disciples by following His perfect example.

#ShareTheGift

As we discover and embrace the Savior we are naturally compelled to share the gift of Him with all who will listen. Join us this Christmas season in sharing the message of Jesus Christ with all those around us. On social media use the hashtag #ShareTheGift to help spread the message of the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ. Watch and share the video below to help remind you and others of the true meaning of Christmas.

“Christmas is a time of reflection on what we can become because of God’s sacred gift. As we discover the gift, we learn of the immeasurable love of God and our absolute need for a Savior. As we embrace the gift, we strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ and our desire to become more like Him. As we share the gift, we follow in the Master’s footsteps, who invited all to hear His message.”

—Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
