Hi I'm Laura
I am the youngest of 5 children. I have 5 nieces and 4 nephews and I love them all. My family is very important to me. I enjoy spending time with them when I can. We do a lot together. I'm currently in college but unsure of my exact major. I want to be able to help people live better lives. I would like to work with the younger generations but I don't want to teach a subject. However, I do admire teachers for their hard work. Outside of going to school, I enjoy doing things outside when it isn't too humid. I enjoy rock climbing and kayaking the most. I like trying new things and over coming fears, although it is hard and scary at times. I do not want to be held back by fear but pushed forward with hope.
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up going to church with my family. As a child I do not think I really understood what I was being taught but I always felt loved and excepted there. As I grew into my teenage years I started to wonder why it was so important to my parents to go to church everyday. I had been taught as a child that if I prayed, God, my Heavenly Father, would answer my prayers because He loves me. I knew that if that was true than I could pray and find guidance. So I prayed and asked if God was there and if He did love me. I prayed every morning and every night waiting for my answer. One morning, after I had said my prayer I felt a great love from Heavenly Father. It isn't easy to discrib but I knew as I know now that He does love me and He wants what is best for me. So, since then I have asked Him to guide me.
How I live my faith
As a Christian I try and live my faith by showing Christ like love for others. I try to see others as Christ would see them. He loved everyone. I have taught young children in the church and young adults. I enjoy teaching Sunday School. It is a great way for me to improve my own understanding of the gospel of Christ. In the passed I have helped plan events for youth and for young single adults. I also try as surve people outside of my church because Christ did the same. He taught anyone who would listen. I have enjoyed volenting with different groups in my community.
