Hi I'm Garrett
I have always loved the outdoors; that's what first gave me a conviction of the living reality of God our creator. I knew that no man or scientific coincidence could have created the beauties and miracles that I saw in the would around me. I was curious in many religions and beliefs, and although I found portions of truth in all of my explorations, I found no one church or religion that could answer or explain all of my questions regarding life, living, death, and God. I finally found my answers as a close friend and his family invited me to church. I had a deep respect and admiration for them, because I saw how they lived their lives. they were clean, pure, innocent, undefiled by the ways and standards of the world. Their home felt different, and although I didn't know the cause of this different feeling, I knew that I wanted to model my future family after that home. As they invited me to church, invited me to read scriptures with them, and invited me to pray with them I learned what made their family so different. I eventually joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and every blessing and positive thing in my life stems from my decision to be baptized and my commitment to live up to the promises I made to God that day.
Why I am a Mormon
Because it makes my life simple and happy! There are so many distractions and illusions of happiness in life, but true happiness comes from our relationship with God and our relationships with those around us. I have learned for myself that God's commandments are instructions from a loving Heavenly Father for our happiness and success in this life and hereafter. He knows us perfectly, and loves us perfectly too. I know God has restored the original church that Jesus Christ established and organized while he was on the earth, and it's called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The restored Gospel and Church of Jesus Christ have all of the missing puzzle pieces, all of the truths, and all of the answers I was looking for; and that's why I am a Mormon.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by doing my best to love God and love those around me. When I am not working or studying, I spend my time enjoying the world God has created for us by mountain biking, snowboarding, rock climbing, surfing, skateboarding, backpacking, camping, and doing any other wholesome recreational activity that I can share with others. Being actively engaged in positive activities helps me to keep God's commandments and have his spirit as my companion as I go through my life.
